FYI : S2000 Owners, 16" wheels no longer fit after Buddyclub RCA install on front. Due to the extra thickness off the RCA bringing the lower control up the balljoint it self is longer and fouls on the inside of a rim. 17" is now minimum size for front.
So on Monday it was the first outing to Wakefield Park Raceway in the S2000 Organised by John @ JDMYARD the Wide Open Throttle private day was awesome!
Forecast was rain all day which was a bummer but luckily it cleared up and the track dried up enough to get some good laps in with only the last turn still being wet.
Managed to get a car trailer for free from a mate and instead of chewing out my tyres on 3degree camber and using fuel I took the free trailer, loaded it up and was on my way.
Loaded up the car the day before ready to go.
Left Sydney at 6am allowed for extra driving time since we were towing and weather was krap! Half way pit stop for maccas and fuel, still foggy and raining!
No pictures at the track really but got some footage to share.
First outing, was still raining and track was completely wet. So just went out to have some fun, see how the advans perform in the wet and try to dry the track up!
Last lap of the first outing came off the track with a full lock steering wheel the front compressed and cracked the paint on the front guard, its a shame, but I could see this coming.
Doesn't bother me too much as wider/flared guards were on the shopping list.
Second outing, still really wet but stopped raining, again had some fun mucking around, this time flying down the straight hear something fall off the car and then it gets louder.
Pulled into the pits turns out to be the spare O2 sensor bung/bolt had come off causing an exhaust leak and the car being over done too loud!
Not a major problem, easy fix but still annoying none the less.
3rd, 4th & 5th outings were pretty dry the sun had came out, the corners of the tracks were still wet so had to be cautious.
Throughout the day my times got lower and lower as I pushed more, learnt the car & track more.
My best time of the day was 1:11.8 with traffic on the last corner having to back off early and brake early. bummer but none the less really happy with the time. Watching the videos
I can see where I need to improve, change things and approach and exit different. Definitely can see low 11's possibly even 10's in the future on this set up hopefully.
My mud covered S2000 from the off
Quickest lap video, 1:11.9 and 1:11.8
Overall good day!
In other news my new AP2 tail light gaskets arrived after 4 fricken weeks.
Really nice driving out there man, judging from the video's you have really good control of the car already! 11's first time out in the S2000 is awesome especially on street tyres. I can't wait to try Wakefield now after watching your video. Thanks for sharing!
And lol at the muck around video. Not sure if drift or track day...
P.S have fun installing the AP2 rear lights, haha. I'd love to have a pair of the AP2 rear lights but dread the work involved in it.
