i love the idea of a shorter final drive, and will def be going a 5.1 when i do my clutch.
changing gears is fun,(my car is no longer a dd)and theres no traffic out here in the bush, its the whole idea of owning a rev happy 4cyl to me
i also like the idea of making 2nd a bit more usefull in those low speed corners where going back to first is just a little to much
added fuel consumption and higher cruising revs, so what? if i wanted a practical, comfortable, quiet, lazy car, i wouldn't have bought a dc5r.
i say go the 5.1 norm, and don't forget to do up review

was pretty sure the ADM DC5R gets the same gearbox as JDM DC5R.

      I'm using JDM DC5R 1-5th and FN2/FD2 6th gear with 5.1 FD
personally I find 2nd and 6th too short, ideally a CL9 6th would be best for highway cruising, but not much can be done about 2nd gear. 3,4,5th is beautiful though would work even better if you had a high revving cam kit.

A buddy had a 5.1 on his DC5R and it's great on track, but 6th can really get to you if you drive on the fwy a lot, but if you have a lot of tolerance for high rpm cruising, hey why not?

Well after doing abit of research, sitting 100km/h on the freeway on 6th gear is

        "5.062 now when i run 62mph (100km/h) 6th@3500rpm" as qouted from here.

And " 5.062 FD and his car sits at about 4500 RPMs going 80 (134km/h) on the freeway, I'm thinking his tires are 255/45/17 or maybe 255/40, not sure, very close to stock tire size.
" qouted from the same section.

So the extra 400-500 rpm increase is tolerable for me. As my daily driven car the "Kia" revs at 3.5k rpm at 100km/h.

$600 is just the clutch right, seeing that u also got the flywheel seperate. hmm as i would thought they be alot cheaper say if u sourced it straight from USA seeing exchange rate is win right now.

yeh $600 is just for clutch. But bear in mind the shipping costs etc, i dont think it will work out that much cheaper. But anyone can point me in the right direction for a cheaper Exedy Sports Organic Clutch Kit for DC5R to use in conjuction with Toda Flywheel that would be great? Thanks!

Theres plenty of exedy sports organic kits (stage 1) you can source from ebay/clubrsx/vividracing etc that can be had for $450-ish shipped, 600 could almost get you the exedy stage 2 clutch kit Sellers in Aus find it really hard t compete with sourcing directly from overseas as they have markups and additional imports taxes to recover.

They seemed to have a different part number to the one provided by Aus sellers? So its Stage 1 kit thats Sports Organic?

btw norm, with your car, when ur on a stand still and rev in neutral to like over 3k ish or more and let it drop, does it hit around 1k rpm then settle to 750-800 or does it smoothly go straight to 750-800?

Im pretty sure thats normal right?..i'd have to start my engine up later when i get back from work to confirm that. Whe your doing this I assume your car has already warmed up?

yea already warmed up etc... like at a traffic light etc or some shit.. just chuck it a blip on the throttle and observe ahaha..

was driving a friends honda city other day and noticed it goes down smoothly, and also a friend of mine @ work told me how its weird that it dips to 1 and then down to normal idle rather than smoothly straight down to normal idle rev.

Using the clutch finder from exedy.com.au. The part number for our clutch is HCK-7369SO. Where as the stage 1 exedy clutches on ebay.com from the USA are 08806 for a Exedy State 1 organic clutch kit for RSX Type S 2002-2007 from Here. Can someone explain whether its the same with Aus and USA? or am I looking at a different product all together?

i believe the stage 1 is labeled as stage 1 racing clutch, as oppose to the oem feel organic clutch.. so different things.. but someone can prove me wrong
