Well, a week after Oran Park and Eastern Creek has been run as well!
The shock of the day was in the first session – with BlackDC2 breaking a critical suspension component on the track, being very lucky to not have found a wall!
OZ#227 also had a scare when his engine conked out at turn 12, fearing the worst when his oil pressure warning alarm came on he shut the engine off and was able to coast into the pits, only to find one of his sparkplug leads had popped off. Much to his relief!
John hovered around the 2.02 -2.05 mark all day, no doubt trying things here and there, but he managed to bring it all together in the last session, belting out a 2:00.04 – tantalisingly close to a sub-2min lap!
I had a pretty consistent day, into 1.57’s by the second session with the car feeling very strong around all parts of the course. By session three I was into the mid 55’s, where I stayed for the rest of the day, posting a best of 1.55.5 being 0.3 better than my previous best time. But it was clear that my tyres were letting me down, feeling well past their useful “competitive” best.
The surprise package of the day was e240, who managed to attack well all day, pulling a string of low 1:55’s with a best of 1:55.09. I know Leo was very happy to see 55’s but being close to a 1:54 must have been a great feeling! I think Leo was also stoked to finish ahead of his nemesis – the car 20 Datsun, who he has been duelling with all year. Well done Leo.
The second last round is mid-September at Wakefield, Sunday the 16th. I plan to have new tyres, and will be aiming to hit low 1:12’s and I would encourage anyone who wants to get a taste of competitive and safe motorsport to head down for a bit of competitive fun…
Thanks guys,
Yeah I think I've got a setting for my coilovers, Fightex DA's.
Hardest setting at the rear, 2nd hardest on the front. Last session was done hardest all round. I was getting the slightest bit understeer at some places around the track. Back the front off 1 click should be it.
I wanted to do a 02:00, so I was pretty happy with that.
Makes me wish I put abit more fuel in for one final go.
But I called it a day.....
i gave my self a personal best (lol.. well since was my first real time at wakefield in the itr) with a 1:16.89 (on yokahama c-drives [taxi tyres y0!]) which im very happy with but i reckon i can do a 1:15's with a decent set of street tyres and more practice and confidence
I noticed both E240 and Tinkerbell goin at it hard...
