the times that you guys were setting were amazing, I blame my engine for my times, not my shitty driving
for all those that didnt see the damage, here is a pic.
i will post more pics when i tear down the engine this weekend. from the looks of it, it was a rod that gave way, but it is just speculation at the moment.
according to my data logging, the engine was doing 8960 rpm and 0% throttle when it let go, A/F appears to have been alright and oil temp was at 105 while water temp was at 90ish, wish i had a oil pressure sensor that i could log off.Attached FilesLast edited by BlackDC2; 15-10-07, 11:03 AM.

Well, what a day of highs and lows…
It was a great Honda turn-out, we had four DC2 Integra’s, one EG Civic and one DC5 Type S.
The day was pretty much perfect, the heat only existed in the direct sun, the shade provide a cooling place to rest between runs. There were not a lot of entries for this round, only 60, so there were plenty of opportunities to get track time.
Most of us had started hitting good time by our third run, with Kieren under the 1:00 mark, John and Dave both getting a 53.7, Jase and Leo had mid 52’s and I had hit 52.0.
We had another run before the lunch break (something that we don’t normally have unless there are limited flag marshals!) and the afternoon session started around 1pm.
Our cars were getting hot, but it was not really too stressful, however, disaster struck in the second session after lunch. I was sitting in the marshalling grid watching the group in front of me and I saw Jason go past in a cloud of smoke, I thought he had locked up at the end of the straight, but he had actually blown his engine. It was pretty shocking and very bad luck. But thanks to Jason’s skilful driving, he managed to stay off the wall, and keep the oil spill to a confined part off the course.
The rest of the afternoon went pretty quickly as there were only a few competitors left who were racing, so we got several quick sessions in before close (one reason why SHIFTY’s oil temp was getting high).
My tyres are finally wasted, and I packed up early knowing I was only wasting fuel and risking accident if I kept going out on tyres that were close to the carcasses.
So at the end of the day, there were several high points:- John (OZ#227) – 3rd place in the NSW Supersprint Championship – Type 2B
- Leo (e240) – 2nd place in the NSW Supersprint Championship – Type 3A (only 2 points behind 1st place!)
- David (tinkerbell) – 1st place in the NSW Supersprint Championship – Type 3B
- Honda Car Club of NSW – 3rd in the NSW Supersprint Championship Club point score
- Dave (SHIFTY) – setting some fantastic times and showing promise with very high talent levels
- Kieren (05dc5S) – doing 30 laps in his Type S, working hard to bring his times down, AND beating his mate Tony in the process…
It has been a great season guys, and lots of fun with so many Honda’s, a big thanks to you all for making it so enjoyable!... retired/

1 piece looks like the bearing end of a conrod.
I'll pass them to you sometime so you can frame it up.Last edited by e240; 15-10-07, 12:19 PM.MFactory Performance Products
