    BRAKE PROBLEMS plz help!

    Hi Guys

after cooking my stock brakes from the last track day i eventually got new brakes. i have just installed
    - project mu rotors FRONT
    - Ferodos DS2500 FRONT
    - goodridge braided lines FRONT and REAR
    - ap racing 5.1 brake fluid

my mechanic bedded the brakes in and my first reaction to the new brakes was the very VERY soft pedal feel... i use to only have to push 1/4 of the way in for the brakes to start working and i can still the pressure starting to push back. now i have to push 3/4 of the way in and only then does the car start to stop and i feel the pressure pushing back...

at first we thought maybe there was still air in the system so we bleeded all four brakes and we could see that there were NO air bubbles coming out...

we tested the car again and it was only marginally better (placebo maybe?)

whats wrong? or what have we done wrong? i mean the car does stop alot better but i really have to push all the way down before anything starts to happen, it does not give me confidence when driving and i cant even heel and toe anymore because the brake is soooooo far down past the accelerator that i can't even roll or lift my heel up onto it. it just gets caught on the side of the accelerator

does anyone know if these are characteristics of these parts? or is something wrong...

i am getting new rear rotors and DS2500 soon along with a brake cyclinder brace...will this make things even worst?

im quite worried and i miss that responsive brake feel on stock brakes

    any input is much appreciated!

There is some thing still wrong! No pedal should go down more than halfway. No characteristics of any discs or pads to cause pedal to go down 3/4.

Take it for a short drive and re bleed the system. There will be air in there somewhere. Otherwise the seal inside the MC has turned itself.

Recheck the brake hoses etc.....easier to do the basics first.

the only other poss proble if there isnt air in the system it could be the master cyl itself....sometimes after ppl have fitted new brakes they push the pedal to the floor to pump the system up ...which is a big no no cause the master cyl would have a build up of crap inside and pushin the pedal to the floor often dissturbs it...resulting in stuffin the rubbers...so im thinkin the master is runnin purelly off the secondary side... hope im wrong...

        leaks at the banjo bolts?

        leaks at the bleeder valves?

air in the master cylinder? (must bench bleed the MC)

but for SURE there is AIR SOMEWHERE!

MC rooted? If so new MC or better still get it resleeved.

dc2r brake pedal should be savagely firm and high stock even without ss lines and cusco brake stopper.

mines hard as a rock ...only time a low pedal is considered semi normal is if rear drums shoes are out of adjustment lol ...but thats old school stuff...get a seal kit

Your description is a little unclear.
Does the pedal actually pump up if you push it say 3/4 times?

Are the pads bedded in right across the whole face of the disc? (Inner and outer pads)

It sounds like either of the above or possibley a combination of both.

If not these definately look at MC.

i had a honda dealer bleed my brakes and pedal was very soft , pedal travel was about to the floor , they had left air in the system , and wrecked the master cylinder.

                        hi guys

thanks to all your valuable comments! i'll get the mechanic to look at it again...

i know that the pads are bedded in properly as the rotor start off with some type of coating to the surface and that has all worn offer properly...

so i will get the mechanic to have a look into the MC and see what happens...

yeah my brakes were definately rock hard when i had my stock brakes which lasted me 125,000kms and still had plenty of meat left...

Hi DC2RKID can you confirm that you are not suppose to push the pedal to the floor when bleeding? when we bleed the brakes together i would push the brake down once until firm release and do it again and on the 2nd time i held it down. the mechanic then bleed the system while my foot was down, and i could feel the pedal go even further down until it hit the floor, then he would seal it up again and i would get off the brake pedal slowly...so in your experience do you think this is incorrect?

Hi Intergal when the car is switched off when i pump the brakes they become rock hard after 2-3 pumps as the MC is off and not working. when the car is on and running i can pump the brakes as many times as i want and it would be the same.

thanks again guys i keep things posted.

wat we do is use a one way valve bleeder ....crack the nipple and push halffway 10 times...

This is how it should be.

                              Looks like MC.
