Im getting the vibe from alot of you who think that Honda can only be successful if they go the turbo route or power increase for that matter. Like 00dc2 said, Honda performance cars are marketed as 'driving enjoyment' cars and imo a shit load of power that can break sound barriers is not what they are trying to achieve and compete with. What gives Honda performance cars its competitive edge is not how powerful it is, but more the feel of a sport car as a whole.
Yes, you can argue that the majority of car enthusiasts are all about wanting the fastest rice rocket at the most affordable price, but there is that portion of car enthusiasts who just want a good, sporty looking modest car. Which imo, Honda has done well tapping into this 'niche' of a market.
Like i said before, limiting the release is the best option if they do decide to bring in the new CTR. It has low risk and provides them with good market research for similar future releases.Last edited by swooc; 06-10-06, 04:00 AM.

It's good to see the diehard Honda love here ... At times, virtually blinding with no end in sight.
Unfortunately, unless you've experienced other make/models regardless of what they are - Better, same, worse. All you're doing is going off by what others have said, wrote or told.
Don't turn this into a make/model bashing thread. All it accomplishes is further lack of immaturity and motoring experience/knowledge. If you've stood up like Scheung, FunkyR, Mo, Ed, Jing, Manny and the rest whom I did not name; whom have gone to other make/models, at least applaud for the fact that, they went out there to try what is available instead of endlessly capaigning on 1 cause regardless of truth or simply put - Inability.

Lots of us (me included) like to have a light-hearted dig at others' choice of car... but when it comes down to it, we are all car enthusiasts. What someone else loves, another may not. Most of the time it isn't so much about what is "better" but about what is best for a particular person.
I love my car, however I've been lucky enough to experience first hand a number of other capable cars and make comparisons with my own.
I definitely respect other people's choices when it comes to the car they buy. We all have different criteria, different budgets, different priorities when choosing a car. I feel after 4.5 years of DC2R ownership that I chose the right car for me.

sorry evo owners, i was only kidding
but what ive also observed on this forum is that some believe their choices and opinion are gospel and that everyone else needs to either justify their alternate choices to the community or be immediately judge accordingly. some people need to open their minds up and get off their high horses imo. like cambo said, we all have a common interest here as we're all car enthuthiasts but we all don't have the same goals and hold to value the same things.almost JDM spec, y0!

It's expected to have diehard honda fans here with blinkers on (like the race horses LOL). It's a Type-R forum.
But in real life, each car has it's pro's and con's.
Don't tell me the ITR has no con's b'cos if it didn't then you wouldn't need to modify ithappyhong says:
aus only have 3 r
happyhong says:
civic R, integra R and jonnieR

Great points guys...... we shouldn't compare the make and models unless they are in the same class......like FR=S2000 & RX8, 4WD=STI & EVO.......FF=ITR Clio Celica........also Turbo and NA as we all know.....there is no point to compare a turbo 4WD with a NA FF coz simply they are not in the same class......also we can't just compare lap time of different car driven by different ppl.....except from one driver coz everyone's track experience and skill level are different.......To be honest I love my DC5 from the bottom of my heart......I reckon its the best car in the world.....(I'm a Honda diehard fan...lol) but I also think the others are just as good.....just the power and the way it handle is different......we are all car enthusiasts and thats why we posting reply and sharing our thoughts of it......There is no Better or worst car in the world....just the car that suit ur driving style no matter what make/model of it......if I have plenty of $$.....I can make my DC5 a 10 sec car with no problem.....but I dun think I will like the handling at all.....anyway...back to topic....
IF they really bringing the TRUTH version of CTR I will swap my wife's Jazz to it......so I can have both....lol......also love to have that VTEC indicator on the dash......how about sound notification from a nice chick like the Sat Nav system.....sth like "ur Vtec is on!"...lolMugen Whore #2

so why am i moving back? im stupid
do not even put dc5r and evo in same sentence. Doing so just highlights your inability to come to the truth that honda is nothing more then a small dot on field of automobile industry.
Take a brand new DC5R spend say what 15k on it to get it to the price of the evo with the "extras" and trust me the performace of the two would be very similar with exception to off the line performance which awd will shit over fwd every day of the week.
I am not blind nor do i have blinkers on, i am being completely honest in my evaluation of both cars. I have driven everything from modded Sti's, modded skylines, modded s15's, IS200's, landcruisers, turbo soarers, bmw z3 n 4's, evo 8, civics and the list goes on. If i had the dollars i would build a 600hp GTR but the problem is it would spend more time off the road than on. Having been in one of the quickest skylines in aus the feeling is undescribable, when 30psi of boost kicks in and you can barely breathe it makes your heart race just a little.
Every car has its positives and negatives, as i previously mentioned tho nothing gives you that driving pleasure of the honda, yeh i love the turbo rush it makes the car feel fast and then you look at the speedo and its not really moving that fast, atleast not in a stock turbo car be it a Sti, evo or whatever.... On the other hand there is reving the teg to 9000rpm, from changing to third at 100kph and then watchin the speedo race to 150 and hitting fourth and up to 190kph in no time at all.
I go to QR once a month and race my car, and the majority of ppl i talk to are extremely surprised that the times myself and evan do in our integras. And i am by no means an extremely experienced driver. I enjoy the challenge of beating the turbo boys in my NA car, yes there is always going to be a faster turbo car out there but then you look at the amount of $$ they have spent and how reliable the car is and its not even close to the honda.
And jing since the evo is so great why would you go back to a crappy dc5r?
I am justifying myself and not trying to disprove any other persons point of view, I just hate being criticised when if other ppl took their blinkers off and actually comprended what i was saying they could see my side of the story. Yes evo is awd turbo and has a awe about it, but its based on a lancer of all things, and to top it off it even has a little "lancer" light on the dash to remind you every time you drive it!!!!! Hey i'd love a evo with 250-300kw at the wheels but i dont have that sort of $$$ In the mean time i will enjoy battling it out in my slow crappy integraNA is BEST

1 Question (GoldCoastDC5R): Of all the list of cars that you have test driven, is it a street test drive or a actual track test drive?? Because you know its a world difference between the 2 type of test drive. For the evo to be appreciated, one need to drive it hard to know. I test driven my mate's Evo 9 on the street, and i admit it was kinda disappointed or don't feel any special. But until he told me that i really need to give it hard (cornering) where the true strength reveal. And boy, it makes a world difference after the 2nd test drive.
And also, i need to let alot people realise, Turbo isn't that far off in terms of reliability. Being a S14a owner for 2.5 yrs, my car's virtually trouble free. Only ever had a EGR issue. Not reliable?? Don't think so....
And why do you even think people is turning their blinker off and not seeing your side of story. People like Jinger, actually owned those cars before (not just test drive), hence they don't need to see from your side of story. For example, i don't need people to tell me how a Silvia is, when i had it for 2.5 yrs.
At the end of the day, each to its own. One don't need others to agree on what they like. Hope you understand what i'm trying to get here....For all ralliart colt owners & lovers, i'm please to announce that the ralliart colt forum is finally online and working.
