anywho... im working at the international motor show coming up and i spoke to some of the sales/market managers for AUS Honda. They said the biggest barrier is the cost of course. Since it would be manufactured in the UK the tariffs etc. thus making the CTR un able to compete in a "bang for buck" market.
This is same story with the accord!? Ever wonder why we have the 2 variants of the accord? (AUSDM is the only market with the 2) Euro/V6/Special Edition... because initially we were only meant to have the V6 but AUS Honda market managers fought for the (JDM orientated) EURO to come to the AUSDM and guaranteed it'd be a success thus so. Don't get any fancy ideas that the CTR will be coming to our shores.
One thing for certain is that, ...
Rest assured the market managers and the Australasian trainer manager "Tonie" a rather, is doing his/her best to bring the CTR to AUSDM. With the new launch of the Honda Legend etc. their focus atm. is not on the performance sports cars. The S2000 being the safest japanese roadster and it becoming ever more popular, the CTR is a very very long way from our shores.
I'll keep bugging some of the official honda japanese ambassadors about the CTR. I'll keep posted if i hear any news =)
Quick question... why is Honda Aus. considering the "domey" civic and not the JDM since that's what our current civics look like... plus wouldn't it be helluva cheaper than getting it from the UK??
If it's been answered, ignore this.. i just couldn't be bothered going thru the 11pages lol
no because our "domey" civics are currently manufactured in thailand much like our v6 accord and jazz. reason being? australia and thailand governments have tariff agreements hence its asif it was made here = much cheaper
honda has strict protocol and does not just introduce a car even though it could be moderately affordable. speaking to some of the head office managers that came up from melbourne honda aus. head office they said they're still working on it atm. seeing if they can bring it here. in my opnion they wont be bringing it out.

But hey, they have to consider, how the hell does every ordinary bloke or young adult be able to afford a sports car as expensive as the S2000??? Yes the S2000 is popular, but likewise the aussie price of it is too much for most people. Look at 350Z and RX8 at a much cheaper price, do you see more of the new S2000 around or the above 2???
And the Euro is a success, yes I agree with that. But If there was a Euro-R available, I think I'd rather buy that over a Subaru Liberty. The Euro-R is a 4 door sports car with a performance & ride quality close enough to a BMW said by the people who tested the first edition of the Euro-R long ago, and Honda Japan undenied that it was their target to aim for the BMW.
I think Honda Aus is putting too much focus on small cars market such as the Jazz, Civic and Accord. Yes they did really well with that, but where has the Spirit of Honda's sports car gone to??? Yes, cost is a major factor involved, but I dun see nowadays those Holdens' and Fords' sports car range are any cheaper than what Honda has to offer. And talking of built quality, I dun think they can even compare with Honda atm. Just look at the problem Holden had with their first series of new commodores that came out not long ago, they always have problems with the first & second Gen cars before they finally get it right in the third Gen.
I just think if Honda Aus dared enough to show what choices they can offer to the market; who knows? The people who use to buy Holdens, Fords, Subarus, Nissans sports cars might start considering a "HONDA"
Isn't there a way we can like all e-mail Honda AU and get them to hurry this CTR up!
Yeah, I reckon if we can gather all Honda enthusiasts across Australia to do a signiture on a book or something to send to Honda Aus to voice for what we want and let them know how we feel, then there might be a slight chance. But on the other hand, I wonder if there would be enough of us just to push that stupid frame of mind that Honda Aus has. U just can't underestimate how arrogant they are sometimes
I think what you should be emailing to Honda Aus, is a copy of your bank statement. Seriously, its all too easy to say "i will get it for sure" or "we need more options" (but half the time you wouldn't get it)
