Theres also a bunch of parts I want to get from Japan to restore the car back to factory condition. too bad its Christmas season cos I cant order parts in Japan
OK, I finally had some time to read up on all the receipts from day of purchase till time of exchange where the S2000 was mine.
I guess the purpose of this post is to remind myself what parts have been changed, and what may require changing in the future.
Firstly the car has had 4 owners, and I am the fifth owner. I'd prefer to buy a car with minimal or one owners, but this Monte Carlo Blue AP1 was ticking the right boxes and the positives definitely outweighed the detractors.
Below are just some of the highlights at certain intervals of which i feel are good to highlight for the purpose of this post and thread.
11/04/03
- the original owner took the car to Honda to have both headlights replaced with brand new ones under warranty due to condensation
16/07/11
- The car was problem free with no major changes besides the regular oil changes and the only item replaced was a brand new Honda clutch master cyclinder
- Michelin PS3 tyres in factory 16'' AP1 sizes replaced
04/02/14
- replaced rear pads
20/02/14
- replaced coolant
- replaced fuel filter with Honda OEM part
- throttle body cleaned
17/09/14
- note that front pads have 30% remaining
30/10/14
- Hardrace driveshaft spacers installed
- rocker cover gasket replaced
- replaced diff and gearbox oil
- vtec solenoid gasket replaced
- adjusted valve clearances back to OEM spec
- radiator tank starting to crack
- replaced spark plugs
One of the drivers why I bought this car is the full history of the car can be traced with invoices to prove certain things were replaced etc. Looking at the log book service intervals, all previous owners rarely drove the car, but the one thing they all had in common was the car was always serviced every 6 months!
I was planning on doing a bushing freshen up but pleasing to hear that diff and engine mounts were replaced not long ago so I will leave that for a few years (if I still have it)
Also pleasing to see that teh gearbox still holds the original OEM clutch. I think this car has had a really easy life. If I hold it long enough I'd ge tthe 4.7fd, aftermarket clutch, possibly lighter flywheel also
One thing I will definitely do is get an aftermarket radiator and new coolant , as well as install some Ferodo DS2500 pads and machine the front rotors, finished off with some RBF600 brake fluid. The previous owner did say he installed some Bendix pads up front, but I prefer to use Ferodo.
I guess that now means that when I take the car to Top One my checklist is:
adjust coilovers so that the car is raised 10-15mm
