thanks mate! the gaps so far are pretty good besides the fender and the bonnet on the passenger side the gap is a bit larger than the drivers however its nothing a little trial and error cant fix

YES DO IT!! I did the same and left it in my back yard for about half a year and to be honest its not really that hard. from my experience welding was a bit "ehh" since the whole conversion was done by a mate and i with little welding experience! the hardest part would definitely be lining everything up after that just clamp and weld! My conversion was a bit off due to the damage that the car previously sustain and some of the threads to bolt in the fenders are kinda stripped so it doesn't hold where i want it to however it definitely isnt really that hard and it sure is rewarding after its all done, take a step back and you just stare with a grin on your face! haha

Okay so a little update since.
So while the whole front end was off for the conversion i decided to remove the stock air resonator box. While taking it off i noticed that there was a tube running from the airbox and into the resonator box! The rarely working light bulb in my head suddenly lit up! next thing i knew i was hacking away the airbox with my grinder. After realising how well put together the box was and accepting my defeat at the hands of welded plastic and a crap load of glue i realised that i had been wasting my time as i didnt need any parts of the airbox.. so i smashed it.

            This was my prize! hehe

After thinking of ways to mount the tube as there are no mounting points for it i noticed that the AUDM fenders had a bracket that bolted to the car where as the JDM ones didnt. Decided to hack up the bracket to use as a mount for the pipe and cable tie it for the extra JDM points!

Verdict: It sounds pretty normal and a bit more gruntier than before at higher revs. Given the shape of the pipe i reckon it was highly unlikely for any water to seep it however the pipe it self has a small hole at the bottom which allows for water to drain out from the factory. Best part about it was that it was free haha.

That night i got the front on i really couldnt help myself but to stop by the carwash and give the car and particularly the front a little clean! The front had accumulated heaaaaps of crap from my back yard for a good few months and so i didnt really feel guilty when i used the notorious brushes and gave it a good scrubbin.

Next up i sorted my rear boot! The original boot had a lot of stubborn residue left from a previous dodgy tint job and it was a real pain to take off! on top of that a few of the demister lines were broken and it got to the point where the rear demisters proved useless. Luckily for me i managed to find a rare JDM dc2r boot, where there was no hole in the glass for the rear wiper and as a bonus the holes where the brake light wiring for the VTIR wing werent there also! Got that swapped out early today before the rain hit as anyone in melbourne knows the weathers pretty shitty as of late, but then again when isnt it?

Funny thing is the ITR wing that i bought previously was off this very boot so id say the colour matched pretty well haha.

Having picked up a driver side recaro a while back, it had came with some dodgy low vision rails. The sliders were absolutely terrible so i decided to pull them off a regrease the sliders until i decide to buy some new rails. Being the lazy me, i ran the 10mm bolts in with an impact and before you knew it, i snapped a bolt! on top of that there was a bolt previously that was snapped on the same side.. After trying knocking them out became an absolute fail, I ripped out the passenger recaro and bolted them (by hand) to my drivers rail and bolted in my original leather passenger seat which had been sitting in my back yard for a while. Before i knew it my car became i spiders nest.

The hunt began for a dodgy or really poor condition recaro, i basically came up dry with people offering my recaros around 350 range (good and shit condition), that was until tonight when i randomly searched gumtree and found a pair of what i believe to be sr2 recaros. The condition was indeed pretty shit as it had tears everywhere but looking at it i found that the bolsters were actually heaps better than a lot of sr3 that ive seen and the price was way below what ive been offered.

and before i knew it this happened

            culprit number 1!

Plan was to pull the sr2 apart and use the base plate and salvage one of its better bolsters and use it to repair the sr3! luckily for me i found that the seats were near identical with the expecption of the fabric designs and a few minor cosmetic differences. Pulling the recaros apart wasnt so bad and proved to be rather easy. Hardest part would be hooking up the webbing found underneath the seats! after i managed one i took a massive break which lead me to this thread update

Awesome update! I too did the same to rebuild my recaros from a really cheap set I found that still had the good bolsters and bolster cover. The cheapest way to rebuilding than buying from capital seating who are a bunch of rip offs.

Didn't know jdm trunks had no hole for rear wiper. Thats awesome!

thanks mate!! yeh i was actually considering buying some bolsters off capital seating a while back but couldnt justify spending 100 for each bolsters, luckily i picked up these black ones for next to nothing! hoping to find some new skins/fabric to fix them up too!

After having driving the car for the past 3 or so months with a about 3 different colours on the car the time came to get the car resprayed!

Within the first few days of having finished all my exams, i proceeded to get the car all ready to head to the paintshop.
First on the agenda was to re-align the front end. Due to the car having an accident with the previous owner, the front passenger side was a bit out of shape. As a result on the passenger side, the headlight did not sit flush with the fender. The culprit was a spot weld that had popped off during the accident and once it was re welded together the front end sat much nicer!

A while back i managed to pick up a set of RPF1 (16x8+38) with a set of KU36 however the tyres were pretty old and 2 were worn as well as two flat spots on one of the good one so they were basically useless. Had to get new tyres so I ordered some brand new Michellin Pilot Sports 3 (215/45/16) and boy they were pricey! Such a shame the ranges of tyres in 16s is appalling really.

The 215 on 8 inches seems to stretch a lot more than i wouldve liked. Ideally i wanted 225 but my pockets arent that deep and not much out there really. On the bright side theyre nice and grippy and are vary quite so far! In terms of fitting them i got my guards rolled pretty much as flat as i could get them. Main thing was to bend back the tabs at the front and cut down the tabs on the rear bumper bar.

Next up was to shave. Jokes im asian im hairless LOLLL.
With my failed search of an s2000 antenna i decided to shave off the hole as well as the rear badge and the side mouldings on the rear quarter panels.
Having self taught and no proper welding experience i was nervous i was going to blow through a massive hole. Results really speak for themselves and really screams "NOOB" when you look at it hahah. grinded the welds back and threw on a coat of etch primer to prevent rust.

Moments silence for the lost Type R status.

Luckily for me, i managed to pick up some decent conditioned ITR doors so the mouldings didnt need to be welded up!

LMAO good timing dude only just got my car back!

So I dropped my car off at the panel shop back in November and started to strip everything off! The plan was an open door respray, where I put in the labour of prepping the car for paint. I wouldve paid for the whole job to be done however I had a holiday planned the the money I saved basically covered all my expenses!

Anyways, the colour I decided to go was a Sebring Silver Metallic found on the S2k and the NSX. Not sure if they're and AUDM option but its rather common in the States. Comparing to the old VSM, in the shade the colours dont really look all that different however when the sun hits it, the Sebring really shines bright, occasionally looking almost white!

Biggest regret not putting my stock wheels on, the primer is still stained on the tyres, anyone know whether tyre shine will work?

Sadly with so many delays in between, only managed to get the car back last weekend! Still need to put in my whole interior.
Next up on the list would be throwing on all the stuff i have lying around the house for sure!
