Got my sandblasted parts back all nice and coated thanks to Mr Thanh. Quite pleasantly surprised how amazing it turned out.

Engine mounts, tower brace and brackets are coated a nice metallic black (same colour as what my wheels are going to be) and the rocker cover is a nice vibrant and strong metallic blue.

I put the parts together including 1 of the cooler piping to see how the colours go against each other and wow! can't wait until its all mocked up in the engine bay.

Here you can see the rocker cover slightly up close and better.

The black is really hard to get on camera.

I came home the other night and was so excited to see what I have bought. I literally had no clue what I had bought a week ago.

They sent me a really decent sized box which really got me hyped as I haven't received anything for a long long time. Guess what was inside? just a fitting for the fuel hardline to be converted into -6an. wow... such wow...

I have a habit of only working on my car at night time. It's just before midnight and I'm outside ratcheting, wire brushing, prepping and painting. My family and friends call me stupid and crazy.

Well tonight I prepped and painted my motor. Started by hitting it with a power drill attached with a wirebrush.

Took me a good few hours to get it to a raw finish. I removed a few things to really get into the smaller gaps.

This is your best friend when tearing down a motor guys. I repeat... This is your best friend.

I taped up all the sections I didn't want to get painted and plugged up all the bolt holes with tape, no one wants a bolt that can't be put back in later. Don't mind the rocker cover, that will get sand blasted and coated another awesome colour.

The tape I used is pretty decent. Loving the name and packaging also haha.

Once everything was wire brushed and all the dirt, grease and grime are off, I wiped down the whole motor a further time. Good preparation will lead to better end results period. I did 3 coats of primer and allowed 10 minutes in between each coat. Coat 1 and 2 are light followed by a medium 3rd. This is the 2nd coat drying.

3rd and final coat just dried and is safe to handle. It takes a week for the primer to fully cure though.

Worked on the car a tiny bit tonight. It was too late in the night to use power tools.

I ended up washing the engine bay tonight and wet sanded it at the same time.

I'm currently 2 hours in with the RBC intake manifold, Still many more hours of shaving, grinding and smoothing before I am happy to get it powerdercoated.

Pretty much I want the whole manifold like this before coating.

        More updates this weekend.

Worked on the water pump housing a little today. Started cutting the factory pulley belt tensioner as I'll be running the K-tuned a/c and p/s eliminator kit.

Must clean these oil stains because I can't stand looking at them. Throttle body cleaner melts these off like butter.

Water Pump removed. Might get this replaced while I am at it.

This is the part I'll be cutting off and smoothing it down for paint. Has been done plenty of time before and looks straight forward.

I also had the chance to paint the motor today. Decent weather + the aid of a cardboard box booth powered by a heat gun did a wonderful job at baking it haha. I used a steak digital thermometer and kept the temperature at around 40-50 degrees Celsius. Pretty much trying to mimic painting this on a hot day.

            Removed the oil pan today.

The pan was pretty clean with no sludge build up all all, just slight oil stain due to it sitting for to long. I cleaned it out to get it sand blasted, weld on oil return fitting and coated gloss black.

I was meant to use a k24 steel oil pan opposed to the k20 aluminum pan but I only just found out the pan has a massive dent from the bottom.

More work done on the motor tonight. I feel so hooked working on the car at the moment and need this to last untill the day I turn the key. inb4snorlax.

Cleaned the head up of the oil stains a tad, because slightly ocd. I then brushed it with fresh oil to keep it lubricated.

Test fitted the rocker cover and really digging that blue.

K-tuned coil pack cover looking at home.

Started putting back on a few things to the motor as the paint is safe to handle.

Chucked on a brand new oem oil filter while I was at it.

Just in case anyone was curious to where the dipstick levels leveled with the oil pump feed

I started cleaning the exhaust ports, slight ocd kicking in again.

I got too excited, yes again... and mounted the JDL manifold.

              Things didn't just ended there....

I sent the turbo cover off to get powder coated so just a naked looking turbo for now.

Not much of an update tonight just got my compressor housing back freshly powder coated by Thanh, It's the same colour as my intercooler pipings. It took a further hour to sand back the edges I couldn't tape and to removed all the sticky residue left over by the tape. I then sanded it down with 800,1200 and 2000 grit wet sand paper, still needs to be polished.

I put back on the compressor housing o ring, greased it a tad to help prolong the o ring life and also to help it seal nicely.

                The cover freshly coated.

                Back on the turbo.

Holy cow. I enjoyed every second of that. I think I may need to change my underwear.

Those Regamasters and Spoon Dampers make me want to rethink my life choices...

                        Hats off to you mate!

I'd love to do a build like that but...I can't bring myself to spend that much money on the car, so I shall live vicariously through you!

Sometimes I look back and I too also need an underwear change haha. But my build thread doesn't compare to the higher end build threads, I have nothing on them

My car has been off road that long huh? Really miss driving it. When it's back up I'll make sure I attend more meets and events to get to know the scene better.

You can do a build like this. I work overtime and the overtime money goes to the car now days. I have just bought an investment home also.

This didn't just happen over night for me Apu, it has been a long journey.. 7 years long. During the 7 years I had 2 dc2r's total, a 98 spec Jdm dc2r and this one.

If you work hard and divide your earnings accordingly, you too can build whatever you want to your budget.

I know what you are saying but I've got a family, and with two kids coming into their most expensive years... I've also got a few cars so it's hard to rationalise such a detailed build.

Now that I respect! Family man. When I get married in 3 years and have kids, I think I'll be leaving the dc2r in the garage collect dust and probably be driving the oddysey only
