      Exhaust

unplanned update! This exhaust came up and I didn't want to miss out, reading such good reviews, listening to every youtube clip of it available I knew I had to get my hands on it before it gets snapped away!

GReddy/Gotuning Spectrum Elite Dual w/burnt tip

      A little info!
70mm to dual 60mm piping, dual mufflers, 102mm tip.
      Power gains of 10.9 hp at 8001rpm and 6.9 lb-ft at 6256rpm.

Go Tuning Unlimited worked with Greddy to develop an exhaust to our specifications. Designed to have a refined look that makes power without sacrificing sound quality. The result is an exhaust that is 94 db @ 6000rpm (stock is 92db). The 70mm to dual 60mm piping was able to produce power gains of 10.9 hp at 8001rpm and 6.9 lb-ft at 6256rpm. The construction is entirely stainless steel with a polished or torched tip. The exhaust fits very well on both AP1 and AP2 bumpers where most exhausts either stick out too much on AP1 bumpers or are too recessed on AP2 bumpers.

Today’s sophisticated tuners want it all, and GReddy’s SE exhaust systems deliver the full spectrum of features desired in a street performance system. SE exhausts increase flow via tuned piping and larger, free-flowing mufflers for improved power, but provide discreet sound levels that won’t attract the wrong kind of attention. The exhaust note is comfortable and sporty, not loud. Each application is tested and tuned for USA spec. vehicles, so fitment and sound is confirmed. All SE Exhaust are test to be well below the 95dBA standard. The new smaller Spectrum exhaust tip(s) help disguise the system from the rear of the vehicle, but reveal show-quality appearance from the side and underneath. Whether you are cruising down the road or at wide-open throttle down the track, the Spectrum Elite is ready. Refined sound. Hard-hitting power. Superb looks. Excellent fitment. GReddy quality. - A true Sports Exhaust
Will be dyno'ing next week again to see what it just has done and see whats going on.

First thing first clean it up!

Next up, removing the old exhaust, bit of a tricky thing to remove, the hangers on top of the mufflers was the hardest part but plenty of silicone spray did the job. May I note that the standard exhaust weighs a fricken ton!!

So then I thought awesome, now line up new one and bolt it all up, little did I know 2/3 bolts and nuts were stripped on the cat, previous owner(s) must of had a catback and cross threaded them.

So from here I drove it to a exhaust shop with only half an exhaust (lol what a drive) and got them to remove the bolts (as they are welded to the cat) and replace with new nuts and bolts (which are removable now) whilst they were there told them may aswell fit it for me.

      Finished outcome!

      Thoughts??
Well its louder than I thought but not too loud to be annoying, when cruising steadily on speed its nice and quiet, on idle shes quite too. Creeping up to speed it gets a bit louder and then on WOT it screams! Can definately feel a smoother pull throughout the whole rev range but the dyno should/will show exactly.

      Until next time adios!

                      light weight sound deading

So between 3-4k i noticed there was a bit of a drone which annoyed me as time went on i sort of adapted to it but still wanted to address.

I didn't want to spend a heap on dynamatting + downside of it being quite heavy! Theres some dynamat from a previous owner holding the amplifier in place so didn't want to add more.
So i opted for some studio sound foam.

First thing was I stripped the boot. (noticed the screaming face ahaha! too much vtak!!)

Wanted to address any small issues or problems or rattles or whatever whilst I had the boot stripped.
Found this sticky foam pad not to be holding the fuel door release cable. Threw a new one on her!
Also while boot was stripped I softened the rear coilovers and tighted up the rear strut brace which seemed to have 2 bolts loose!

                      New one

Dad had lots of carpet underlay in the garage (what they use under carpet for reducing sound and bit of extra thick padding)
placed this under the spare tyre.

Next i lined the boot well with underlay and held it in with some sikaflex

Next inserted the studio foam between the rear quarter and boot & half of the wheel arch and lined the flooring with more underlay.

Above wheel well back of body

Much quieter in the cabin all for less than $30 and tops 2-3kgs!

Visited Ryan to pick up his Skunk2 Gearknob he was selling due my original one being pretty beated!

                      And just a random shot
                      those burnt tips <3

                      Thats all till next time!

Has this reduced some of the drone?

Definately has man! Much more pleasant to drive with.

I added some sound foam behind the spare wheel also but didn't get photos.

                              Rear Rotors

My brother and I do some work for Sydney Race Brakes weekly, brake upgrades, to simple servicing. Matt from Race brakes managed to source me some rear rotors for a steal of a price! I couldn't say no so i grabbed them as they were the last set he could get of the old style 4000's. Slowly I will be collecting brake parts

And just some random photos after a wash!
