Just read through your whole build thread, Amazingly Awesome DC5, with tasteful mods. can't wait for more updates on it. Also really does give inspiration to work hard to buy your dream car as I'm only 15.

Nice work on the track Huy. How did you find the track time/number of cars on the day?

Thanks mugsee, the track time was excellent, I got loads of track time probably more than I would on a normal grouped day, but yeah there was a large amount of cars which was a problem, but despite that was a incident free day and flowed nicely with no hold ups

Good work mate I saw the car there in person and it looked sweet. Solid time considering the conditions that we (and the cars) had to endure during the day.

                  My JDM DC5R

Boring day at uni so its time for another update guys
Since my last track day as you guys know i bought some new wheels, the stickers on the wheels have seen better days so I was considering getting red TE37 stickers to suit the white, red theme that i have going on with my car, but when i was searching i found some TE37 SL stickers. Ive always loved the one stripped look so i went through with it, personally i love the look, makes the wheels suit my car much more, I'm not trying to make TE37 SL mock ups/reps, as some people have mentioned, i just really like the look

Also thanks to KBP Visuals i got a professional photoshoot done

Since i bought the car i loved the interior but the centre console is a little different, i jumped in my friends type s a while ago and if you guys haven't noticed its a little different, it has much more compartments and one extra cup holder. It might not be like much to some but hey, the little things count
Finally found a type s centre console for cheap so i picked it up and installed it

Also one of the mechanics didn't realise how low my car was and scrapped my front bar going up the dyno and it actually broke the clips, so as both sides were already broken i decided to get these PasswordJDM bumper fasteners, took some nerve drilling into my fenders but I think it looks good and i can finally utilise my track bar that i got off OzStriker (Ryan) a while ago

Booked in for another track day on the 10th of March, I will be running the Rays Gramlights that i previously had with the same tyres from the last track day so i can compare my times. Haven't got much prep to do so i should be ready in time, just the usual maintenance stuff and i should be good to go, can't wait!
Some of my mates will be going and from what I've heard a lot of hondas will be attending as well so should be good to get some tips from the more experience guys as this will pretty much be my first OFFICIAL track day haha.
I'll be using a go pro again to film my sessions so hopefully i remember to charge it

Careful huy, those rubbers bands for the bumper quick release like to go all brittle in the aussie sun and snap.

Car looks good! Will see you at tampered :] (Y)

Should have looked into getting these things ...

They seem to be quite nice! You could replace the plastic block and drill a hole into the bumper! I'm going to be using these in the near future ...

So finally just completed my first official track day, once again i didn't get as much prep done as i would of liked due to funds etc.
Wasn't going to do much to my car as i would've liked to compare it with my last day but i had some spare time so thought i'd fit on my front bar that i bought off OzStriker (Ryan) a couple months back, also put my mugen lip on to cover up the bottom of the bar as it was quite damaged. Got some winglets installed as well

On top of that one of my friends with a mugen wing with customised stands pulled out of the day and let me borrow his wing. I loved the look, went with my front bar and the car was looking really aggressive

As the Australian Grand Prix is on next week i decided to head to albert park to get some once in a lifetime photos haha
Lighting was poor and i haven’t edited the photos but the back drop and being on the actual F1 track was worth it

Final prep was installing my fire extinguisher which meant i had to make a custom mount as i didn't want to drill into the floor, also installed takata harnesses.

Ran into a major issue on the day before the track day as i was planning to use my old Rays Gramlights with the same tyres for the day, but ran into some complications and i was left with no wheels to use for the day as my te37's had shit tyres on them and that would've been a waste of the day. Luckily thanks to my good friend peter he let me borrow his Rays RE30's with used, almost bold, Advan Neova AD08's. Even though they were used, compared to any other tyres I've had on my car these were by far the best!

Drive up was awesome as we met up with the SUMODS group, who organised the day for us
My last PB was a 1.48 from the last fun day, but that was on my GPS app, so was curious to see how that would compare to actual timing.

First session I went out just wanted to take it easy and relearn my lines, braking points and get used to the new tyres. Even though I was trying to take it easy i didn’t even realise that i did intact beat my PB in this session, ended up with a 1.47.6
                              2:08.3910 2:05.9980 2:02.0870 1:49.1580 1:47.6710

After the first session i opened up my bonnet to let the car cool down as once again it was a hot day, when i did i realised that i was leaking coolant, one of the hoses that links into my throttle body was leaking, either through a hole or i didn’t put it back on properly, also i had another issue which was my fault for failing to replace the part. My drive belt was worn from my last track day and i thought i could get through another track day before i replaced it,but after my first session i could physically see the belt tearing down as there was a line going through it. I didn’t want to risk it as i couldnt afford to tow the car home, so i sat out for 2 sessions thinking of what i could do. Luckily my friend was coming up late and happened to have a spare belt, and so to make the most of my moneys worth, i went back out. Just i was about to head out, an FD2 spat oil out all over the racing line so had to wait for them to clear it up, despite this I ended up beating my PB again with a 1.46.0
Tyres were starting to overheat though as i was feeling large amounts of understeer throughout this session.
                              1:49.3230 1:47.7530 1:46.0610 1:46.3280 1:56.6170

For my third and final session I really wanted to get into the 1.45’s by the end of the day, even though i was extremely happy with my PB already. When i started my car up for the final session it sounded weird, like a motorbike, thought i had a leak and yep, thats what happened, the gasket which connected to the headers came loose, i felt that i was loosing a bit of power but I pushed my braking points and carried a bit more speed into corners where i felt confident, ended up with a 1.45.9 but could’ve hit the 44’s as my GPS on my last lap said that i was on 1.30’s heading through the S bend to the last straight, but an EG seemed to break down on the racing line which caused me to have to swerve off the racing line and still made a 1.46, still wondering what time i would’ve got if I got a clear run to the finish line haha
                              1:46.2680 1:45.9090 1:46.3480 1:51.8290 1:46.0510

Either way, despite the ups and downs i was really happy with the way the car performed, and the only hiccups was because of me and my lack of attention to detail, which is something ill keep in mind for next time! Very happy with the day and would like to thank my friends for helping me through the day and fixing some of my problems, can’t wait for the next track day, its defiantly something i would love to keep doing on the side as the car is still my daily

And also I would like to add, today is exactly ONE YEAR since i bought the car, it's been through heaps of ups and downs but its still here, so in the coming weeks i would like to give it a full interior/exterior detail as well as a service, i hope to keep the car for many years to come and maintaining it is what i recently realised as very very important!
