If you use a fancy traction bar, you don't need the front crossmember? Didn't know that.

Ha I don't think it will be quite that exciting, since it is my car it will probably just end up a similar experience to a ride in the Integra, but louder, rattlier and hopefully a bit more brisk.

Not sure about other chassis, they have not been my study, but on ED/EF all the aftermarket traction bars replace the whole front crossmember. Because the ED/EF already use a radius rod style suspension the aftermarket stuff just substitutes for the stock parts.

Here's a picture of the elusive Hasport engine mounts:

Wouldn't have a clue whether they sent me the correct parts, I guess I'll find out on Sunday when I attempt to test fit the motor and box and begin creating clearance with a hammer.

Over the weekend I got started on preparing the engine bay to test fit the motor. I pulled out some more things from the bay including most notably the driver's side engine mount:

For this purpose I bought a spot weld drill bit, my new favourite tool. I then removed a few other brackets and things that aren't going to be used with the new motor, instant weight reduction:

That's about it. I forgot the CR-V engine mount bracket at my house so I couldn't test fit the motor but that should happen the weekend after next. This weekend I'll be up at Eastern Creek pit crewing for an Australian GT team so if any Sydney people are bored on Saturday or Sunday, swing past!

Thanks mate, I've always had a soft spot for the CR-X too, the lightest of the double wishbone front suspension Hondas.

                      TOM! nice work mate!

so you've moved to Essendon, no wonder i don't seems to see you around the SE side anymore.

Got a timeframe of how much longer this is going to take?

Haha ah well, hopefully the CR-X will be at an event covered by Cars For Hope soon! Interestingly apart from the old JDM rego sticker, the only sticker on the CR-X is a Cars For Hope one .

Thanks boss! Tentatively aiming to get it on the road by the end of the year, and on track very soon after. The budget is the limiting factor, I really need to sell some of the junk I have lying around.

Don't worry, after this car is done you'll see (or most likely hear first) me everywhere!

Thanks for the support Felix, don't worry it will have ClubITR stickers all over it when complete.

Minor updates: I have put a deposit down on an exhaust manifold from a US manufacturer, it should be on my doorstep by early August. To give you all a clue, the manufacturer has a three letter acronym for its name.

I'm also hunting around for a set of 89 onward rear lower control arms that use the fork style lower shock mount as it gives me a few more options with dampers and spherical bushings. After confirming that the Aussie spec ED9 front subframe fits into the EF8 fine I need to find a non-cracked version to butcher for exhaust manifold clearance.

I also picked up a spare set of front calipers from a DA9 (They're the same as EF8) along with a set of DA9 knuckles to diagnose a possible bent knuckle. If anyone has a pair of mint EF8 knuckles lying around let me know . I'm going to stick with these calipers for as long as I can, and honestly I have heard of some guys surviving with the smaller 242mm ED9 brakes on K powered EFs with the right pad selection and ducting.

Did you want me to find out if the ED buyer wants the spare DA LCAs or not? It has the sway bar holes.

No that's okay thanks, the DA arms are apparently slightly different in geometry to the ED9 ones, and I'm too pedantic for that . I have a pair lined up from a guy on CRXaustralia in any case.
