Jingers you cannot wind us up with the "lap times dont matter etc" post and then just tell us to relax a little. That's quite condescending. It would be the same manner of me posting in your project thread that your car is not worthwhile and why bother? And then later saying chill out...
I'm not angry, just trying to help you see my point.

Anyway, I feel this forum is more about modifying and talking than driving. I'm the opposite. I say sell your mods and get as much track time as you can, that is where Honda's come alive, especially Type R's.

      Peace out...

        Regarding CRX vs DC5.

        Goldcoast Dc5R with 150kw+ did a 59.X at QR.
Hipower CRX with B20 130kw+ did a 57.X at QR.

sorry mate, all i see is a bunch of old people that is love blind and unable to accept the future.

and in regards to my project, even i think its retarded so your views, if they are those views are perfectly justified. hence you dont see me trying to achieve an ultra fast super duper laptime at wakefield. it is not my aim. My passion is to build something that i always wanted to build. Almost my own creation of sorts. There is less ego involved there and more passion i believe

its also condescending the way you spoke to thanh on a "personal" matter. So why cant i? LOL

in the end you are obiviously a good driver, you love driving more then modifying. Fine. You obivioulsy dont like the civic R. Yet i cant help but feel that the more i hear people say OH i dont like this OH i dont like that are appearing more and more like whining people to me. I mean ffs be happy with honda for once huh!?

Would you all like honda to just bail out? If they gave us the nsx-r the same people would still find some thing to poke at it. Never satisifed = never happy.

I am going to message this thread to honda and put subject.

--just sell the dc2r again to shut everyone up. Regards Jing.--

Far out I wanted to let this go and you modify your post!

I like Thanh, he is a cool guy but I just feel that 45K on Civic Type R should be a solid decision, not just a rush in feel good one. That's why I suggested look at EP3 or stick with DC5 and save money.

I was using Thanh's own explanation - He said he didn't look beyond the first page of that site, and that is what I meant with the Type R too. Look behind the nice new exterior and see what the car is. You can see from my history I am not into personal attacks and I thought that would be carried through.

Anyway, regarding FN2 CTR, I find it hard to accept against the FD2, not against my DC2R. DC2R is different era and different car.

Here is my main point regarding the FN2 that nobody has answered - The FD2 costs $13000 less on current exchange rates, Honda AU would make a lot more money from it than the FD2. Maybe the FN2 is a filler until FD2 production ramps up? I don't know.

dont know? its a funny thing though with australian market. Our dc5 price buys us a s2000 there too :S

and also we dont know how much the underlaying costs for those cars to make are. Ie the civic r in japan might have no margin but the civic r in uk has a huge margin. Either that or easier compliancing rules.

Maybe the people at honda saw some of the comments here, wanted to make a change to the honda image, worked hard to get a civic r here andthen lol shot down again.

I know if i was in honda working in that persons position i would be pretty heart broken

One more thing... in my circle of friends I'm known as the `car guy'. Recently a few freinds who care little about cars have asked me about the CTR, saying it looks cool and they are interested. So I actually think the CTR is reaching a wider audience and I am starting to feel like a minority...

We are talking cars only so lets keep it to cars only. And on this subject. Heavily modified > stock *espicially if the better driver is setting it up properly*. Fucking no doubt about it LOL.......
I think you need a qualifier there. Heavily Modified > Stock (but only when the conditions suit the heavily modified car)

Anyway, I'll sum it up this way:

In producing any car, manufacturers decide on the compromises they are going to make. Simply put, Honda have decided to widen their potential market for the CTR by adding additional safety / luxury features, at the expense of outright performance (weight).

They have also sacrificed mechanical features like the LSD, which they deem would only benefit drivers who drive the car near/on the limits. (ie. track etc).

Despite not having driven the new CTR, regardless of what anyone suggests, the rear suspension system is inferior to a proper independent multilink configuration. The suspension configuration has been used because it can be lifted from the Jazz/Fit platform to save R&D, and for its low price & interior luggage space benefits.

My mother would now buy a FN2 Civic Type R.

My mother would not have bought a DC2R.

                            Simple really eh?

and guess what... that's the type of people who would have the cash to purchase a 45k car.

sorry for any confusions. All my commetns are stated to be for track conditions only. I am well aware of your ethos on modification comprimise and i 110% agree.

But to compare you gotta make it simple and we are talking about sports cars here and modifying cars with a better driver average driver. Only track conditions seem suitable in this discussion. In which case the only conditions the heavily modified car would not be in a advantagous position is if a shit driver setups the car wrongly. Even then it would be the drivers fault for not setting it up correctly.

It is only possible to compare if you consider

                                1. track conditions
                                2. both cars are at their best optimal setup

If you compare those two conditions i find it hard to see how any stock car would triumph any slightly or heavily modified car.
