If FN2 is is best enjoyed at 10-10ths, wouldn't that be on the track? I certainly don't drive 10-10ths on the road and I hope you guys don't either. There is spirited driving but it is nowhere near track level.

In this article The Stig in FN2 is 2 seconds slower than a GTI. I have been competing against a well driven GTI and generally lapping 2 seconds faster, both of us on R rubber.

The R26 goes 4 seconds faster, they are available in OZ for same price as FN2...
    So your point is?

    R26 same price as CTR?
List price R26 is like 5k more.

My point is... why don't you do the maths?

If the GTI is quicker in that test by 2 seconds, and DC2R is quicker than GTI by 2 seconds, that's 4 seconds. But it's hard to make a real point without doing it back to back testing at Wakefield isn't it?

If I say DC2R is faster, then I will be shot down because it hasn't been tested and for saying older cars are better etc... which I'm not trying to say!

Yes you are right on the R26 price, but the base 225 is $2000 cheaper then it goes up past FN2 for R26.

R26 price edit: I actually spoke to a dealer about it 2 weekends ago and I thought drive away was 46K, but looking at his card again that was without on roads. Seems FN2 is about 44K with onroads.

"apples to apples" - no, not from the numbers on paper...

also - i got bears feedback on teh CTR last night:

car feels "nice", is very "poserish" in terms of interior "feel", on the road is like most new Honda's, howebver - no real harshness or indication it is "R spec"...

he claims that his Euro feels fairly evenly matched to it in terms of straightline acceleration... (did not drag it, but drove his Euro straight afterwards)

but was unable to really push it around corners as was new car with new tyres (mould release)

Yeah I can do maths, so what is the point?

People buy cars for more reasons than lap times.
Seating position, cargo space, price, badge, dash layout.

If you want a track car for laptimes then go buy an EVO.
You say you don't want to flame but you're certainly going around in circles.

The maths was a joke mate!

There was a time when guys bought Type R's to take them on the track. That seems to have gone and I accept that. But I still want to track a Honda because they are beautiful cars. Tracking an Evo seems like cheating to me, with 4wd and Turbo.

Could you please explain how I am going around in circles?

sorry wasnt trying to stir shit here... i was genuinely interested!

i think the laptime thing was misunderstood

a civic or integra type r wont set a blisteringly fast lap time or anything... so if just setting a fast laptime is most important than you wouldnt buy a type R

however i understand that for some, achieving a certain laptime is part of the joy of owning and driving a car.. haha i am one of them

but they are two different things

but yeh I really wanted to know whether anyone here thinks the FN2 is faster than other type Rs previously available in our market… for my own personal reasons

also I think what chuck is trying to say is that RENAULT make faster FWD cars than anyone else

              hehe

you are ALL going around in circles because you all seem to continue to be comparign apples to oranges to bananas...

the FN2 is a car in a class of it's own in the Honda stable...

it can only be compared to other current "hot hatches" - not other "Type R's"

btw i dont get the whole gti is quicker by 2 seconds etc

that test where the GTi was quicker was on a track in the UK right?.. with the stig driving both cars?... and your saying you can beat your friend in a GTi in your dc2R on R tyres where? at wakefield?

like tink says - apples for apples

Completely standard comparison with factory standard tyres on the same track with the same driver... maybe done with multiple drivers cos i believe some drivers can get more out of some cars than others

I am surprised by the GTI being quicker too.

Oran park South and EC so far against GTI... and he is not my friend, he is my mortal enemy... lol

"also I think what chuck is trying to say is that RENAULT make faster FWD cars than anyone else" Dammit!!! I played into the hands of Narada...

Damn after driving the car for 1 week, I'm so tempted to get the car.

It has freaking amazing handling for 1350 kg car and much more stabler than my old dc5r!!! but yeah waiting list again.

Who actually allows test drives of the car?

Our local Honda dealer saw freakygeek and I coming a mile away, when we went to look at it.

In Tamworth they want $46k on the road for one.
