Thanks tink, DIY was the only way to go to finish this! JDM baller is awesome and everything, but trying to fit everything into the engine bay required a custom approach, and what my mechanic/ fabricator came up with was awesome.

To answer your questions, there is a -12 line straight off the rocker cover, and also another breather line -12 straight from the oil tank. As you can see in the below image.

and a close up of the fitting off the rocker...

In all honesty, i didnt question the breather as it is per the specs that Pace advised.

When the pump is in full swing, it is sucking through the breather, not pushing to the breather. Basically it is breathing enough to not suck the rear main seal through due to negative pressure or scavaging effect coming through the block.
Also the PCV valve has been blocked off as fitting to the breather from the oil tank negates the need for this.

something like this was in mind

Im interested in any input into the design!

            It has indeed

we stripped down the head when the engine was out also, there was nothing wearing and no signs of anything being loose. The bottom end was also inspected but not torn down and there is nothing of concern their either!

At the time of install we decided to take the motor out to inspect. Its been in there for about 20,000kms (in 3 years lol) so it was good to see everything is in A1 condition.

Ive got a few more pics of the engine bay left... they are better looking so we can all drool lol

But in all honesty, everyone happy with the colour scheme?
We went for crinkle red rocker cover, standard silver braided hose, blue and red fittings and black tank and airbox for a more old school hot rod sorta look.
This is the vision that i have of my car.. like a modern, new skool take on a street rod which is made to be driven!

            Any questions about anything??!

yeah, dual dash 12 makes sense!!!

and you say there is negative crank case pressure? does this mena the pump is working too well?

also - where are your temp/presure sensors located? upstream or downstream of the cooler?

nah, i woulda gone ProLite 350 hose for the topside myself... but i am biased, lol!

well the scavaging pull cannot be adjusted on the pump, only the pressure at which it will push the oil through. There is a little negative crankcase pressure, i think is amount is so minute it isnt worth worrying about.

Ok the flow goes.. from the sump to the pump, from the pump through the cooler, from the cooler to the tank, then return from the tank to the filter to the block.

The temp sensor is on the filter block adapter which is after the cooler, and right before it goes into the engine... so i guess you class this as upstream? lol

We also deleted the factory oil/water heat exhanger from the stock oil filter location

There is a pressure sensor just as it enters the block, reading 600kpa at normal throttle, and about 750 under full load. When cold start up oil pressure to 600kpa and when warm between 350-400kpa depending on heat.

I do like the back braided, but decided against it at the last minute after choosing the colour from the powdercoaters for the tank and airbox.

I was all set on black braid and all black fittings.. until i saw the cost... wtf
it was something like $30-$50 a meter more expensive for the hose alone
i can colour mine in with texta for about $3.00

ProLite is $50 per metre more expensive??? wtf?

never buy Earls locally, it is a monopoly market!

for example, -12 ProLite is $37.50au per metre here: http://www.anplumbing.com/shop/index...&dept=Pro-Lite

(i got my -12 ProLite cheaper from my US wholesale guy, as i was buying heaps of Earls stuff)

but i couldnt justify the black AnoTuff fittings... plus the blue/red looks cool

infact, never buy any parts locally unless they are made here, even then it is sometimes cheaper to buy it from USA (example being PWR parts)!

my theory is that you want to know the temperature of the oil coming out of the engine, rather than the temp of the oil after it has been cooled?

                        thoughts?

My god that is cheap............. Everything goes through my mechanic when getting parts. He chooses powerflow fittings and lines for the convience of being able to rock up there, purchase and drive away with everything. When pricing it all up, we both couldnt believe the difference between standard and all black.. it was a bit of a no brainer.

It would be good to know what is coming out of the engine, but at the same time, everything is circulated so quickly ( plus the now 8 litres in the tank) that im not to worried about oil temps im guessing as an adjustment we are safe to say an extra 15 degrees on the oil temp going in would be fair?

The funniest thing about this system is that the engine is now so much cooler after being driven than previously. As in i can pull over, lift the bonnet straight away and touch what i like (besides the headers and exhaust) and this is still with the standard bonnent.

nah, you're right, you got cooling covered 100%

just wondered if there was a reason why it was post cooler, rather than pre-cooler...

I think that my mechanics theory is opposite to yours. Being that he would rather know what is going into the engine rather than what is coming out.
I am in the middle, i would like to know what is going in, and what is coming out.. peice of mind is what i aim for with this.

Just when i say no more mods, i log onto k20a.org and see that skunk2 has a new manifold out.......... dammit

good to hear that you got rid of that rattle...did u get it retuned after the dry sump system? if so what kind of power are you puttiing out now?

20,000kms in 3 years!!! wtf bro, drive it! i already put close to 5000kms on mine and i only got it back like 1 and a half months ago!
