So heres the Honda Nationals Winton Update!
Two weekends ago was the Honda Nationals Round 2 Winton track day down in Victoria. I live in Sydney so it's a little bit of a drive. My father came again this year along with my mum for the trip, we left Sydney about 9am Friday morning and arrived around 5pm At Benella, 10 minutes from the track, dropped the trailer at our accommodation and went to the pub for a feed and some drinks. Waking up Saturday morning to the sound of heavy rain outside, it was quite a wet morning. Maccas coffee and then headed for the track. Once there we were presented with a puddle filled track, but a bit of water doesn't stop us.
1st session was very wet, I've driven on the track before in the wet so I was just playing around seeing how fast I could go.
2nd session I thought the track was still wet, so I didn't bother to check and lower my tyres, however once I drove out onto the track I realised it was already dry.. So I managed to set a PB that session of 1.43.xx (PB from last year was 1.45.xx) so I was already happy, everything was looking good. I did spin out with the rear PSI being way too high.
3rd session as we went to go back out, the black clouds rolled in with a bit of hail which made the track very slippery, so another session of playing around.
4th & 5th sessions in the arvo the sun came out to help us out, the track was dry and everyone begun laying down their fast times. I was pushing my limits more and more each lap, getting faster and faster, hanging around the 1.41 mark. Finishing the day off with a 1.40.26 PB, with the lap itself proving theres still much more improvement to come. I was very pleased with my result though, 5 seconds faster than last year. I was wanting to get into the 1.30's but I obviously just missed out, but thats okay, thats what next year is for.
Awesome day, got to catch up with my interstate old Honda friends and have an enjoyable day. Like to thank the organisers for an awesome day as they always are, seemed to run very smoothly. Thanks to my parents for coming down on the trip to support me, it was quite cold especially standing around and watching. Thanks as well to my father for towing the car, he did all the driving, however thats because he doesn't want to be bored in the passenger seat, instead I'm bored in the passenger seat, wanting to drive lol..
Here's a link to my fast lap on YouTube, followed by some photo spam from the professional photographer of the event. Thanks a lot to Gwyn from Grip Shift Slide for the amazing photos, as you can all see below!

My latest purchase for the civic has arrived! Was an intense last 30 minutes bidding on this item on Yahoo Auction, probably against some Honda part collector in Thailand/Malaysia but happy I won, wasn't cheap, but worth! Have wanted a set of these since I first saw them 1 month after buying my hatch 4yrs ago, only seen 2 for sale ever since! Honda Gathers rear speaker pods! Yes they will 'add weight' for the track, but isn't too much, and I still drive the car on the road and always need a bangin sound system!
