I recently had some rims shipped from interstate to use for daily. I spotted these on a black EF when I did my Winton track day last March, and was like damn I need those wheels! Nearly 1yr later I have some, and best bit is, they are the same ones from that black EF! Weddsports TC005 15x6.5 +43

Before we get started with the motor, wanted to quickly share one of the little things I did, which I should of done a longggg time ago when I got the EF9 front end.

For over a year, I've had no high beam, as the ED front headlights took 2 different inputs, one for main beam and the other for high beam, and the EF9 front head lights only took 1 which did both, so at the time I just didn't both.

Finally came around a year later for a pink slip and needed high beam to pass, so I asked around to find out how to wire up, and then kicked myself when I found out how easy it was..

Cut the high beam wires out, opened up the plug and took the outer input pin/wire shown in pic below

      Now onto the goodies..

The teggie still had a bit of rego left, so I got to drive it around for about a week before I took the motor out. It blew a bit of smoke, but still had fun with it. From the teg I got motor/gearbox, hasport cable to hydro conversion, CV's, wheels and the amp/sub. My mate then took the rolling shell for swap a motor into it in the future..

Unplugging everything off of the motor including drive shafts took about 2 hours, not bad I reckon for first go and doing by myself, on a nice 35 degrees day.. (sigh). Taking the motor out was a bit of fun, trying to lift it on the correct angle to get it out underneath of the gearbox mounting bracket.. But we got there! And here's how she sits after removing gearbox and accessories, looks pretty neat to me!

And a nice little surprise to find when removing the rocker cover, Buddy club adjustable cam gears! Didn't even know it had them, booya!

Soooo the civic tear down began today! Nice cool day with a few light showers around, but I kept at it. Planned to unbolt/unplug everything so the motor would be ready to remove, and then take it out on Sunday with a few mates just for the extra hands! But once it was already all unbolt, I wanted it out asap, good thing my mum was home. She was happy to help, so she just assisted in guiding the motor out of the car as I lifted it on the crane!

So it looks like on Sunday I'll start removing more from the engine bay, and also take the dash off to remove interior harness and all the AC/heater components from inside!

Another successful day working on the Lunchbox. Ripped out all the interior, pulled out half of the engine bay harness and removed all of the AC components.

I was going to run no AC nor heater core, but my mates are starting to persuade me into leaving the heater in for those winter times where the windscreen wishes to fog up on me. I'll now need to look into what I need to keep in order for the heater core to work correctly..

Dash off with all the AC components there, and then not there:

          AC/Heater!!

Last night I picked up some ED fenders which I plan to widen to accommodate some 225/50/15 Advan semi slicks I got from a mate!

Now for the wiring.. My mate (Alvin) has come across how we can make the whole EFI wiring conversion HEAPS easier, then swapping a complete harness in and converting wires to suit! Pretty much, you take your OBD1 harness and remove all the wires from the ECU plugs to wherever they go, mostly to the plugs which connect to the engine harness, and then you re assembly them as a new seperate harness, make it look all neat, include main relay and wallah! Then you can just add it in with the ED original cabin harness and you don't have to worry about rewiring the windows, speakers etc!
Following picture is off one already done by someone else, and then a pic of where mine is at so far!

So today I went in to see my motor at the rebuild shop. The bore's need boring, so I'll be going 81.5mm, (+0.5mm from OEM) and I'll just use a OEM spec piston. Don't have the funds to go hardcore aftermarket, wish I could. So heres a pic of each bore as they are before they get made nice and shmick (Order: 1st is from dizzy side)

Here is also a pic of the head, I believe they have already shaved it down:

Also when removing my ED6 harness I could not undo the shock tower connector, so at the time as I wasn't using the harness no more, snip snip cut it inside cabin. Annnnnd of course, now I need to reuse it! Luckily I labelled wires both ends where I cut them, so I just had to solder them back together, followed by heat shrink and then electrical tape:

Wired up the rest of the "cut up" ED6 loom, from where I was going to adapt the DA9 OBD1 complete harness into, until plans changed.. Pic of doing the rear harness:

With the cabin harness done, I started working on tucking the head lights/indicators etc. There was a black rubber plug behind the fender which I popped out. Might drill a hole in it and put back on, then add some gasket sealant in case any water attempts to go in. Here's the progress pics so far..

Finished up tucking the headlights, was a bit of fun to be honest, looks clean and will look better in bay once the motor is back in and all!

ED carby tank has been removed! that was a load of fun.. (not -.-) . Also smashed in the firewall to fit the B series alternator, not sure if it's enough, wasn't too pretty either..

                  After:

Also sanded down the bay. Started with 400, then 600 and followed by 1200. Used a wet and dry sand paper, with water:

So with all the sanding done, its time for some primer! I did a total of 3 coats, which was done last night on a rather cold night cause yolo, but it dried rather quickly (somehow) and turned out pretty good!

First photo is 2 coats in, the second photo is the final product!

EK throttle cable to tuck, seems bit short but apparently it fits:

Painted engine bay, total of 3 coats of white. Then 3 coats of clear and a good polish! Also cut the down piece of the T brace for the bonnet, didn't want that ugly thing showing from the front

                      ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNND then this happened :O

Started putting everything back into engine bay, the oem ED radiator + fan is very close, too close to my liking. Probably going to get an alloy rad + slim fan!

So my coolant hose kit arrived today, turns out they have the Mugen emblem printed on them, had no idea.. Also I got the rest of my engine harness finished. Added in the MAP, IAC and oil pressure sensor as they were cut off this harness.. Really hoping it all works because I'm defs not bothered to remove all haha. Also tucked the radiator fan loom into drivers fender, I separated it from the AC loom as I didn't need the extra relays and what not.

It also turned out, the dizzy that came with my B18C motor was a OBD2 one, but everything else was OBD1, so I just cut the wires and converted the OBD1 loom to the OBD2 for the dizzy plug!

sooo, got my AC delete OEM box thingo so I can still run the heater for winter. With it all bolted up, seems to be a few gaps around where it meets the blower and heater either side.. I might wrap it with some duct tape just in case?
Also got a personal box sticker from a mate, just to add that lil touch to the car.. Not fussed it's not genuine haha

Annnnnnd heres how she looks atm, got the front bar and all back on. Few things left to go into the engine bay

Yesterday I went about removing the sound deadening, bought 3kg of dry ice (5kg would of been better) and chucked it in the drivers/passengers side. Left it for 10 minutes and then started the hammering. I put all the broken sound deadening in a bag, still yet to weigh it. In the 3rd pic you'll see how it looks with it all cleaned up, wasn't bothered to get rid of the little bits.. Took few hours and I was getting ceebs with it..

Picked up a mint carpet from a EF3, finally no more peasant, cut carpet

Ordered a 100cel cat, resonator and muffler, all 2.5". All turned up fairly quickly too!

Today I decided to pull out the steering rack to gut it, converting it to a "manual" styled rack. Pretty much you open up the rack body, gut out all the shins, springs and valves etc from inside, slap heavy duty grease in and she goes back together. Then close off the 3 opened holes for the hard lines which would usually feed oil in. Also cut off this piston ring thingo

So last night I purchased another ED civic for only $100! Got written off in a small front ender, but I want to take a few spares from it, and also the complete cabin harness as on mine its been cut up at the doors and rear, from when I was going to adapt the DA9 cabin harness in. Only problem is, which I didn't realise, this ED has manual mirrors... ugh

Unfortunately I need 1 more 90 degree bend so I had to stop where I was, but pre much this is what I got up to, its ready to drop down just after the axle

Gonna clean up few of the welds and then spray black later on

Not sure what it is, just wiring somewhere.. I have tried to figure it out for a while but its time to let the Honda gods figure it out at a Honda tuners near by. Hopefully get the car back in a few days with her running and tuned! Stay Tuned!

                                **UPDATE**

Been a few months since post, car is up and running. Will be doing a huge catch up post this weekend hopefully!
                                -----
So tune went well, made roughly 135kw atw @ 8300 rpm limiter, launch control set to 4900. Very happy with it. Everything was kinda thrown together the night before I was towing to tuners, throwing dash in by myself at night, only bolting in with 2 bolts. seats, trims etc etc... was a night mare, but got it there. All wiring I got sorted and everything ran well, tuner relocated the ground I chose for battery was the one I did on rear shock tower just was not sufficient enough.

After run in tune, he said I need bigger injectors, the standard B series ones were maxing out, so I opted for H22A ones, the high impedance due to not running a resistor box. Found some locally and he installed them when I went back for final tune after 1200km. Had to obviously change plugs over to suit the new injectors.

Once final tune was done, I was able to put the red factory rocker cover on now that cam gears had been adjusted accordingly. Looks much better, especially in the white engine bay. Also fabbed up a quick alloy sheet pod filter box cover so the rozzers won't get mad!

hmm what else have i done... been a few months.. major impulse buy on some 15x7 +38 OG Buddyclub P1's, chucked em on car, sold the next day. Specs way too weak, they look alright though. Was gonna use these as track wheels but yeah nah..

FINALLY installed my sound system yesterday actually. Since owning the car I only had a aftermarket headunit I bought and some $300 front speakers, which in the end didn't go well because no amp for bass, although tremble was pre good! So when I bought that red DA9 for sourcing my motor, I took the amp and sub from that, and now it's in my car + some 6x9's on rear parcel shelf. BOY! It is amazing, the quality of sound is perfect. Going to vinyl dye the whole rear parcel shelf to match interior
