I wouldn't recommend 5w30.
1 - They came from factory with i Believe 10w30 or 10w40
2 - With that amount of kms there is wear within the motor so the extra oil is needed to compensate for the wear.
I believe a 10w40 better to start off with, see if it burns much oil or if any leaks appear and also if the motor is noisy. Judging from this a 15w40 would be next on list.

Not sure which fascia kit I'm getting, I know a guy who does car audio in clayton and I told him to get one in for me, I'll find out this weekend.
You do have a point with the oil, might have to go back and do a swap to 10W then I've done over 1000km in it so far and it hasn't lost any oil, the oil is also pretty clean and is 2000km old. I guess I'll find out as the km's rack on.

Yeah put up a pic when you do as I'm looking for a facia for my double din, someone sent me a link ages ago perfect fitment can't find it now
Yeah atleast a 10w rating to keep it at factory thickness.
unless you start losing compression, oil type shouldnt matter. 5w 40 is the way to go though. the number infront fo the w is the viscosity when cold, its the 2nd number thats more important.

So if the front number doesn't matter so much then whats wrong with going a 10W 40?
Correct, the first number is when the oil is cold which is why you would want a 10w, the motor is cold which is when it needs most protection cause as metal heats up it expands so when its cold its at its maximum 'wearness'.
A lot of cars with high KMS are noisy and very tappety when they first start up due to too thin of 'cold' number then once they warm up they quieten down. Disnogood
Anyway, the K series came from Factory with a 10w so thats telling you something right there

Well, it turns out that it was just a plastic frame that had to be cut to size. Cutting it and sanding it took a bit of time, but in the end it looked ok i guess. At first I just slotted it in, despite it fitting in pretty tightly it rattled like a bitch while driving, so I put on some double sided tape and pressed it in. Doesn't look too bad considering it cost me nothing You can see a bit of the white double sided tape in the gap, but its hardly noticeable.
It's been a few months, not much has been done but I'll do a little update. I hit 270,000km the other day in it , still going strong! After driving an 86 I felt that the stock throw felt a bit long so I decided to shorten it with a strut king short shifter that I bought on here (thanks eltrix), the shift is obviously a lot shorter now plus it feels heavier and less sloppy. I've also booked myself in for my first track day at Winton in early August, so I am slowly preparing the car for the event. Got a set of Project Mu B-Spec pads for the car to start off with, they shall be installed soon along with some fresh brake + clutch fluid. Might add a few more goodies before the track day depending on the cash flow in the next few months.

Nice, my first track day may be in August as well, tampered?
