24 June 2013 - TeamGroundZero Track Day
This day was to be my second track day, and first track day at Wakefield (what a day it would turn out to be). The day before with the help of Fahad, we did an oil change on the car. I was meaning to bleed the brakes too but it wasn't too much of an issue. I didn't get much sleep as usual and woke up at around 5am to have a quick shower and do some final checks/packing for the day. Danny was at my place around 6am and we left for Liverpool Krispy Kremes where we would meet John, and my good friend Josh (who was with me when my gearbox went poop). After having some coffee we left for Goulburn McDonalds at around 6:30. Once we reached McDonalds we all had a quick bite then headed down to the track. Also to be noted was the heavy downpour which was definitely going to make the day very interesting!
After unpacking and signing in at the office I had a quick chat to some of the other guys and they were all pretty excited to go out, but also disappointed that it was raining. I manned up some courage and decided to head out for a couple laps. Josh was also sitting with me to give out any tips he thought would benefit me. To my surprise the RE002 handled much better than I had expected them to in the wet conditions. After about 8 laps I came back in to have a break.
After about half an hour or so I headed back out, this time with Danny. During this session after about 3 laps I found that the car would not climb over 5500 rpm. I came back into the pits to try and diagnose what was happening. After talking to a few of the guys they said that one of the plugs on the sensors (can't remember the name) may have gotten wet so I unplugged it and tried to dry it with a cloth as best as I could and let it sit for a while. I also had cut off a finger from a rubber glove I had to cover the plug before I plugged it back in. After doing this I went back out on track again but unfortunately the problem was still there.
I also noticed the reverse lockout wasn't working either and the battery light had come on. My check engine light was also on but to me that’s a normal occurrence . I came back into the pits and decided to pack up for the day and go home. At around 12pm we left Wakefield and started the drive back home. On the highway as I changed lanes I noticed the needles on the tacho would start to go all crazy and dance around, and my wipers were moving really slow. The car also felt like it had no power to give me as I put my footdown.
After talking to my friend Josh who was with me in the car we decided that we'd get off at the Marulan South exit and decide what to do with the car. Unforunately the car just died 2 km's before the exit. We knew it was the alternator that was gone and then decided to put our thoughts together. We called up a few tow trucks only to be told it would cost $600 to get the car towed back to Sydney. After many sighs I looked to my ClubITR lanyard and saw the NRMA roadside assist card that I've had for the past three years. I called up roadside assist and to my relief they said a serviceman would be arriving in the next hour. I then told John and Danny that they should continue on their way home as there was no point in them being here wasting time. After many minutes of persuading them they finally left in John's car.
When the NRMA bloke turned up he tested the battery only to find it was pumping out 9 volts. He connected up another battery in parallel and the car started again. We followed him back into the town of Goulburn to an auto-electricians workshop. After talking to the auto-electrician I left the car in his hands but I was a bit worried about my baby at the same time. It was now 3:30pm, the rain was still pouring down, Josh and myself had to do something while we waited for the next train to Sydney. So we walked around town and decided some Domino's pizza would cheer us up. At 5pm we made our way to the train station, and purchased two tickets on the Country Link service which was coming from Melbourne. The Goulburn train station could easily be a five star motel with its fireplace in the indoor waiting area, and comfortable chairs. Once on board the train we found our seats and slept till we reached Campbelltown station where John was waiting for us.
John dropped both Josh and myself home. First thing I did was run myself a hot shower then hit the bed.
Thanks to Danny, John, and Josh for your help, and support on the day. Special thanks to John for being extra worried about us, and dropping us back home!
They had a picture of a CRX on the wall, so they must be good with a Honda!

At around 3pm I had received a call from the auto-electrician saying that the replacement alternator he had received would not fit, due to the intake manifold coming in the way. I asked him which model of car the replacement was for and he said it was for the 2.4 litre accord euro. I then asked would it be better if I brought a second hand alternator to him from Sydney to which he replied that it would be a good idea. Dropping the alternator would have to wait till the next morning as he would close up shop by the time I got there. In the meantime I dropped by JDMyard to pick up an alternator from Zi (Thanks Zi!).

Luckily there wasn’t much on workwise for us, and my old man was kind enough to drive me to Goulburn so I could deliver the much needed organ my car was needing. We got there at 8:30am and the car was ready by 12:30pm. I was expecting the bill to be quite excessive but to my surprise it was only $300. I thought this was quite cheap as they had worked on the car for one and a half days. The first day mainly consisted of them taking everything apart to get access to the alternator for starters haha.
After a final inspection to see that all my stuff was still in the car, I finally headed back home!
1 July 2013
Received some 3M VHB double sided tape. I need this to replace the old double sided tape which is on the Mugen side skirts at the moment. From memory this is the same double sided tape that Honda uses on their OEM visors (really, really sticky stuff).

I decided to finally fix up the hanging microphone for my headunit. I ran the wire for the microphone up via the A-Pillar. Using a small piece of the above tape, I stuck it onto the A-Pillar. If any of you guys do decide to do something similar remember to check the clearance from the sun visors!

A couple weeks before Zi had messaged me again about a particular item, I finally got around to picking them up.
I can see the wheel collection getting even bigger..
7 July 2013
After many months of talking about cleaning our interiors with Danny and Fahad, The Rug Doctor’s services were once again hired out. This time armed with some woolite thanks to Alex, our seats and floormats were once again cleaned and re-freshed. Unfortunately I didn’t take pictures as I was focused on getting my sideskirts looking like new.
Comparison - Top has been done.
All done:
Finally up to date again. I hope to return to the track very soon, and get my revenge. Wakefield Park be ready..Last edited by Shakeel; 19-07-13, 01:01 AM.
