Thanks Adwin, I've seen your old car a couple times already. You did a really great job !

When I bought this car originally, I made up my mind that I would only have quality parts on it. After about a year of being active on ClubITR I realized there was so much more to cars and modifications than just benen tow hooks..

That being said my good buddy Hau had put a deposit on a brand new set of Buddyclub RSD coilovers (the coilovers which I was originally after). I went with BC Racing coilovers as I didn't have the money nor patience for the Buddyclubs (I needed those lows asap). After talking to Hau, he didn't want the Buddyclubs anymore and we decided that I'd swap my BC racing coilovers plus a cash adjustment for his Buddyclub RSD. Thanks again Hau for the RSD's .

        11 March 2013

With the help of the Danny, Fahad, Hau, and Nathan we achieved alot on this day. None of us (besides Hau) had any experience in installing coilovers, I'm always happy for my car to be the guinea pig so everyone can learn together. We began with removing the BC racing coilovers from my car and installing the RSD's in it's place.

The work bench, thanks for the chips Fahad!

Danny and Hau getting in there

        All done!

Then we started getting busy with Hau's car

After finishing Hau's car I showed Fahad how to adjust the height on his coilovers

Danny staring into the distance thinking about what he will eat for dinner

Driving the car back in the garage

Would like to thank the guys again for helping out. Hopefully my wedges, chicken nuggets, chips, and cold beverages made you happy.

In my opinion the RSD was a massive upgrade from the BC BR. I have nothing against the BC BR. For what they are and what you pay for them, they were worth every dollar. I never really played around much with the damper settings on the BC BR (they were set to 10, and 16 clicks), but IMO they were a bit too soft for my liking. I could feel the difference immediately after driving the car with the RSD's in. Before when I went on spirited drives through the National Park, the car always had a tendency to slide even when not pushing the car hard and it just didn't feel right. Maybe my suspension/alignment hadn't been tuned right, maybe it was just the driver (me). Going through the National Park again with the factory settings on the RSD's and similar alignment setup, the same car feels much more planted to the ground through the corners.

I feel that the BC BR's are really good for your everyday street driving, and casual spirited drives. You do need to keep them quite stiff or the car will be too bouncy (At least on Sydney's roads..). They are good for the lows some people are searching for, and you just can't look past the price. If you are going to start tracking often I think you should save up the extra coin and go for something better than the BC BR. So far I'm extremely happy with the RSD's, lets see how they'll handle in 6 days time!

Whenever you're in Sydney, let me know and I'll have a batch of nuggets waiting for you Jaz

                              5 April 2013

So I bought a fire extinguisher as it was one of the requirements for H Nationals 2013 competitors. This was on sale at AutoBarn for only $20 and it came with its own holder which was also nice .

I finished work early on this day and decided to go about making a bracket for extinguisher. My desired location for the extinguisher was underneath the drivers seat so I had quick access to it at all times.

                              The target area:

                              My weapon of choice:

                              The Victims:

Using a spare piece of MDF I marked out the desired shape for my weapon:

Using a bench vice and hammer, I bent the weapon into shape and after each bend I compared it to the plan. I then drilled some holes into the weapon so I could secure my victims:

Using a couple nuts and bolts as well as the front two bolts for the seat rails I had both my victims locked down, they have no chance of escaping!

I was quite pleased with the end result, it's not often I get things right on the first attempt. The seat slides back and forth with no issues and the extinguisher clears the seat easily! For my fellow DC5 owners, from memory the distance between the centre of both front seat bolts is 380mm (could be wrong). So I guess if you keep that in mind you can make a similar kind of bracket for your fire extinguisher. All you need is a piece of aluminium bar, some paper to mark your plan out, bench vice, hammer or something to bend your bar, couple of nuts and bolts, and a drill with the appropriate drill bits. Since aluminium is quite soft and easy to work with, a couple of light taps with the hammer (when the bar is secured in the vice) will bend it into shape quite easily. If you go down to bunnings or your local hardware shop, you may be able to score an off cut piece for free!

I'm not an expert but if anyone has questions don't be shy to ask, I'll answer them as best I can!

                              11 April 2013

Ever since doing the facelift conversion, I've been looking for ways to improve the aesthetics of the plain and simple front. I bought a pair of Nokya high beam bulbs in hyper yellow after seeing a couple guys in the States with them. It's not much but it does add a nice touch to the headlights. Also considering purchasing some foglights, what do you guys think?

                              15 April 2013

Took the car to Top One today so the team could go over the car. I also got them to flush the transmission oil with some fresh Honda MTF. The car is basically ready, I do want to get another alignment done as I want to dial in some more camber on the front wheels (currently at -2). I'll also have a look at how much meat are left on my pads, but I may just buy some new ferodo DS2500 pads and put them in just to be safe.

That's about it for now, I may have a surprise for you guys in 2-3 days time. My close friends may/may not already know about it haha.
