Thanks Fahad, it really has come a long way in a short time. Luckily I won't be too busy with uni for the first half of this year, so i'll try to get even more done before starting full time again

Thanks Norm, but I'm no where near close enough of a baller as you are! The Mugen spark plug cover and maybe JDM DC5 brembo calipers both have been something I've always wanted since times long before I even had the black DC5R. Was lucky enough to get it much cheaper from Japan, rather than locally here in Sydney.

Also another picture from WTAC 2012. That wtf moment when cyberevo pulled into the pits after the oil spill

Not sure when this happened but around June/July, the great Uc (Se7en) organized a group buy for todd's tie rods where I happily got myself a set as well. Thanks Uc!

Also in July/August purchased a couple pretty boy things for the engine bay from Street.Circuit.Lifestyle/Cartoon (Fielding). I think I was his first customer as my invoice was 00000001 or something rather . He is a great guy, so make sure you buy whatever stock he has remaining.

Finally got rid of that silly old rusted battery stay.

Also bought some new oem valve cover nuts to replace the rusted ones.

On October 20th, went for a drive through the Royal National Park with ClubITR members Danny (DTN), and Fahad (itr5093)

Thanks guys, I do my best with what I have haha . Lucky my phone has a document/text capture mode which takes pictures with fine detail.

                    17 July 2012

The camry was booked in at Top One. I had my 5000km service done, brake fluid flush with RBF600, and coolant flush with some OEM Honda blue coolant. Also had my Defi Advance unit, Spoon Rigid Collars, Goodridge Braided Lines, Mugen Thermostat & Fan Switch all installed. Also had my rear guards rolled by Dede!

Also got around to installing that old dusty beaks lower tie bar so I could finally be accepted by all the cool kids in Cabramatta..

                    9 September 2012

Went down with some of the ClubITR gang to BYP's Honda Nationals dyno day/bbq event. Also had a run on the dyno, to my surprise the camry pulled 132.3 kW! I have nothing against BYP and their team, but the dyno was reading a bit happy in my opinion . No complaints though, gave me something to boast about for a while haha . Also gave me the excuse for me running mismatched wheels when people asked why I didn't have my regas on the front. "My smaller stock wheels give me higher numbers on the dyno"

                      Another big update guys, sorry

                      22 October 2012

After months of researching, reading reviews, and asking ClubITR members about coilovers I had made up my mind on what to buy. Since I was on a tight budget due to all the impulse buys and other things I purchased earlier, I needed something bang for buck. I decided to go with BC Racing, and I purchased the BR series coilovers from JustJap in Sydney. I paid for them on the 22nd and received them on the 24th, which I was quite happy about.

                      25 October 2012

The camry was once again booked in at Top One to get the coilovers, and todds tie rods installed. Finally I would be able to experience those long awaited 'lows' and be accepted by society.

After they were installed I drove down to Jax Tyres @ Liverpool and lucky enough they squeezed me in for an alignment

                      How it sat then:

                      27 October 2012

Went along to the ClubITR breakfast cruise. Many thanks to Raf for organizing this, and thanks to all who attended and made it a great cruise. I think this was the first time I got to see Stevan's BRZ in action, also the last time many of us would see Prash's DC5S .

Thanks for the awesome pictures Prash!

                      4 November 2012

Thank to Raf and Hau I was able to obtain a v-lip in a group buy. I think the v-lip was the most popular mod in 2012 amongst DC5 owners thanks to Phillip and Stevan. Decided to finally go about installing it. This was the first of 2 DIY Sundays, called over the gang to come chill, help with the install, or in some cases supervise (Danny). Thank you to Danny (DTN), Fahad (itr5093), and Hau (Hau) for coming over and helping.

It's much easier when you have two people helping you as they can hold the vlip in place on either side while you screw it in! Also for DC5R owners you may want to cut the middle section off with either a hacksaw or angle grinder for better fitment. I used an angle grinder with a concrete cutting disc that was already on it as I was too lazy to change discs. Again, alot easier with a friend as one can hold the lip steady while the other cuts through. If you aren't confident using an angle grinder, you'll just have to use a hacksaw unfortunately. I used normal self-tapping screws, about 30 of them . Also once done make sure to trim the overhang on the sides where the v-lip ends.

The red circles mark where to cut.

Before install, excuse my Dad's orchids

                      7 November 2012

Finally received the white interior LED dome light to replace the silly old blue LED light the old owner had blessed me with.

                      Before:

                      After (yay I can see!):

                      11 November 2012

Earlier during this week I purchased the Gruppe.M intake system that t-bagger had for sale. Decided to call the guys down again to help with the install which was faily easy. Thank you again to Danny, Fahad, Hau, and Nathan (wongy). Another thanks to Fahad for giving me his stock intake arm which I needed for the install. Took it for a drive after the install and was overall pleased with it. Coming from the injen CAI, I felt that I had lost some power after switching to the Gruppe.M system. I quickly forgot about the loss in power due to the benefits of the Gruppe.M:

                      - Very low chance, if any to suffer from hydrolock
                      - Something to fill the empty engine bay
                      - JDM brownie points (not sure if the Gruppe.M is made in Japan but you get the idea)
                      - The fancy carbon design is nice to look at
                      - The infamous rumble sound during WOT, although I couldn't really hear it with the Amuse exhaust being so loud as it is...

Didn't take any pictures during the install but here's the final product:

It's quite good after settling in, no sounds at all. For the price I paid, I'm quite pleased with them. Although the car is just daily driven with the occasional spirited drive, they have performed well so far. Not sure how they will hold up on the track but David (dnapol) had good things to say about his experiences with these on the track in his DC5. These coilovers are definitely bang for buck and would recommend them to anyone looking to purchase coilovers on a tight budget!

So when I bought the Gruppe.M, I also bought a filter recharge/cleaning kit.

After hitting the filter against the table for about a minute this is all that came out:

                              12 November 2012

Something that I really wanted to do since obtaining this car was keeping the interior clean, and adding a few personal touches where applicable (prettying it up). I sprayed the A-pillar plastic covers black. I also wanted to try something different, something that I don't think anyone in the JDM car scene has done yet. It's something that people who want that sex-spec look usually do. I got my roof re-trimmed you could say.. No it wasn't done in hot pink coloured vinyl/leather, but something even better ... DRAGONS

After talking to many car interior & audio guys, they all pretty much told me the same thing. Given the type of fabric I had bought it could not be done. Most of them said that the glue they used would not stick well and the fabric would start to sag after a while. Luckily I found one shop who was willing to try it out, finally! So I dropped the car off in the morning and picked it up a couple hours later, luckily my job site for the day was just down the road. I was wondering how it would turn out as the fabric was a bit short, but Darren had surprised me with the red suede strip to match the colour of the recaro seats! He also said if it ever sagged down I could just bring it back to him and he'd fix it up free of charge! I was very impressed with the work and the price was quite decent. If anyone in Sydney wants something similar done, PM me and I can give you the shop's details.

This is the fabric I had bought:

                              19 November 2012

I finally received my JDM DC5 brembo calipers from Canada. I was browsing through ebay one day and saw this for sale. They also came with bendix oem replacement s2000 rotors and the mounting bolts for the calipers. The ad said buy it now or make an offer which I did. I offered a rather ridiculously low price, a couple days later I received an email saying that the seller had accepted the offer . They weren't in that bad of a condition but I still took the chance to re-spray them. Also baked them in the oven for a couple hours.

                              Fresh out of the box:

In the process of sanding down:

Hanging in my undercover storage area overnight:

                              23 November 2012

Camry was booked in at Top One once again for the brembo calipers and s2000 discs to be installed. I also want to mention the trouble I had finding brake pads to suit the brembos.. Many shops were closing down for the Christmas/New Year break, most of them didn't have any pads in stock and could only get them in after the new year. I wanted to show these babies off at the Annual BBQ, so I was desperate! After talking to a few people I found out that they took the same pads as the 350z brembos, I called around and found a shop (Race Brakes Sydney) 10 minutes from my house that stocked the pads I was after (Hawk ceramic street pads). They don't just sell brake related parts but can install/service them for you too (Which I soon after realized that they could have installed the brembos for me ). Anyway the install went well, the boys made sure to bleed both nipples on each caliper. Also while the wheels were off I lowered the coilovers about an inch more.

                              End result:

Unfortunately I received the brembo logo stickers during the afternoon when I got home after they were already installed. I wanted to put the sticker on then spray a couple coats of clear over but this wasn't possible sadly. So I went about covering the surrounding front end area with newspaper and I was determined to get this clear coat on. I sprayed one coat of clear just to see how it would dry up but then the unexpected happened. The clear started reacting with the red, and it was all bubbling up much like paint stripper.. I began yelling out all the bad words I could think of at the time, and then after I had calmed down I started scraping off all the affected areas. After all the bad paint was off, gave it a light sand then sprayed a couple coats of red then let it dry overnight, and decided it was time to go to sleep. Mind you this whole process led well into the early hours of Saturday morning. When I woke up I had a look and was quite happy with how they looked, I then applied the brembo stickers on both sides and gave up on the idea of clear coating them. Later on in the afternoon gave the car a quick wash, and had a good rest in preparation for the BBQ the next day.
