Gorilla Industries Private Track Day 29/05/2012
Went to bed at 9.20 the night before, woke up at 1.45 this morning. Dont know why, met up with Ahmad (03dc5r's cousin) with his new SW20 and made the trip down to Wakefield Park.
Got down there just before 9.00 and everyone was just chilling and nothing was happening - kinda got annoyed as all I wanted to do was drive the car. Eventually got onto the track for my first of many sessions at 11ish lol.
Comming into this trackday I knew I had quite a tail happy alignment; 0.5mm toe out on the rear. I have always had understeer issues so I thought about going quite aggressive on the oversteer and seeing how I go and tweak it from there. Whilst warming up the car, the car handled ok, but as I took on proper laps, the car was too twitchy and tail happy. I didnt like it. As each session progressed I found myself lowering tyre pressure from 38PSI HOT down to eventually 30PSI HOT where I felt more comfortable with the car.
I also downloaded the basic/free version of CMS LapTimer on my iPhone. An opportunity to test out this app!
Because ATM I only have the free/basic version of this app, I cannot download the data, so I will write it out all my lap times for each session ( I have actually gone ahead and pruchased the PRO version as tis a great app IMO - compared to NATSOFT, it was on point every time except for one session where it was 2/100th's out)

I struggled during most of today just trying to find my lines and braking points. Didnt have much confidence at all with a different reacting car. Furthermore, I need to have a look at my brakes. They dont feel like their pulling me up like they used too. Had a brief look today and the pad seems to be almost worn. Will inspect the pads moreso when I have free time.
Another thing that has been bugging me is my gearbox. Happens quite often on the last corner of Wakefield. Going from 4th to 2nd, at times the shifter doesnt like it, and ends up staying in neutral. When I return back to Wakefield, must improve accuracy of shifting down to second and not be so worried about braking hard enough.
I came to the track aiming to wipe 1 second off my PB, looking for a 1:13.9, official time from Natsoft shows 1:14.2870. Aim now is to get the car realigned and reduce the toe out in the rear. I reckon with new DS2500 pads, I can sneak into the 1:13 territory!
Natsoft Race Results
Lots of high powered cars today, didnt really get to have many battles, on the straight all the cars who I had sessions with (all cars just randomly lined up) were just too powerful in a striaght line.Last edited by plAythiNG; 29-05-12, 09:01 PM.

Are you running braided lines just curious?

THanks u two, but I beleive my driving was sloppy, it was very inconsistent. I couldnt get into a rhythm, if you look at the number of laps I did, its all over the place, it was quite a laidback trackday where sessions went for random times, or we would get called off early o.O
There were only 25 cars Timmy, but whenever anyone wanted to jump in for a go, they'd just jump in midway. so sometimes in one sessions, at any time there may be 15 cars on the track or even a couple.

I highly doubt that you are doing that but i definitely wouldn't be that on track... If it was the case...
