Looking good mate! As I said before though, I think you would have been better served by keeping the stock front guards .

Perry SSR are kind enough to list on their site which sizes have which face. Look HERE. The 8.5s will be flat, the 9.5s will be concave.

Do you run camber bolts at all Carl?

When I used to have Buddyclub N+, I adjsuted camber via camber bolts. With a 9.5+30 and 235/40 tyre, I had scratch marks on my inner wheel hitting against teh strut/perches.

I take it with your Ohlins you have camber tops anyways but just saying since the offset is a tad high imo

Good choice in staying prefacelift. Like you said alot of guys are doing it, I've been thinking about it as well.

Can't wait to see how this amazing front end will look!
I couldn't agree more, the pre-facelift should look rather good once this is fully complete!
Might add a J's Racing LED Badge aswell =)

I completely understand Tom, i just wanted to complete the whole front end, im not in the market for a bonnet lol...
Thanks mate, i aprpeciate comments like yours!
I will support SSR till the end!

No camber bolts my friend, i don't intend to run MAJOR camber on the front as the new guards will be more then accommodating to the new wheels but i will be running abit of camber on the rear till i can get my rear guards pulled out to assist with clearance.
You are correct, my Ohlins do have camber tops.
I'm currently running a 17x9.0 +35 upfront with a 245/45 Tyre had not having issues on the front but this could change once the new wheels go on. I'm assume the noises will be similar to when i had the 255/45 tyre anyway!

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments!!

I opened the box of the 17x9.5 wheels today and inspected one, they are concaved but only very slightly, nothing extreme.

Tomorrow we will be starting on the DC5, hopefully get it all done.. Test fitting all the new parts on the car except the canards and winglets (waiting on them still)
Soon as the new front end is on, when i find some time i'll go get the new wheels fitted with my current rubber on the VS-XX then the car will be off to get painted..
Hopefully have it all done by late Feb!

I'm hoping so, i really do enjoy the pre-facelift and since alot of people are doing Facelift it'll be good to keep the 02 front end!

                    No problem.

                    ------------------------------

Alright then, everything went as smooth as it could this morning
We started at 9am and finished around 1-2am...

We pulled apart the DC5 which was fairly simple.

Whilst i had the guards off and i have the intentions to make this into a street/race car i decided to install my J's Racing Fender bars, i've had these for almost a year sitting in the box so it was time to install them...
There's no drilling required, i would recommend 2 people to do the install as the door will move out of position when you put the bar on as your using the door hinges (Refer to the photos)
Overall, fairly simple, just take your time

The guards are installed first before the front bumper as you can't re-install your front bumper otherwise.
What we noticed was that alot of the 'fixing' points were slightly off but this is easily fixed with a cordless drill or a filer...

The J's Racing Body kit is a fairly good fit to be honest and overall i was impressed but there are imperfections which i did expect. I will be getting the body shop to put the canards on for me and the beautiful part is that J's Racing has left an imprint mark for where they go which has made it relatively easy to put them on

My 17x9 +30 wheels are tiny in the guards lol... The new wheels should be more then accommodating!

Now to those who will ask, 'why did you test fit this at home?'
I wanted to see the imperfections myself with my friend who's a qualified panel beater so i know where it should be receiving attention and there will be places that we have missed for sure..
I thought originally if i bought a genuine kit it would be a one stop fit but after seeing the hard yards Norm has gone through im expecting the same he has gone through.
One other thing im still deciding is where im going to put my front number plate, i have a few ideas so far..

                    Things im waiting on:
                    Winglets
                    'H" Badge (Facelift)
                    'Waza' sticker
                    Wheels to be on

                    That's all guys
Once i have all of the above done and on me at home then the car will be off to the shop.
This is the hardest part, trust the panel shop i've chosen to do a good job.

Looks great, can't wait to see this all sprayed up, and totally agree with ozstriker, the rims are really gunna set it off, gunna look super aggressive
And just regarding the guards, I was thinking of running a 17x9 +12 up front if I go ahead with them, compared to your rims how do you think they'd fill em out?

Honestly mate, i haven't tested fitted the 17x9.5 +28 wheels as of yet and im starting to think i possibly should of got 17x10 +15.
It won't really matter in my scenario as during the year i will possibly upgrade to Full JDM Control arms, knuckles drive shafts & brakes << This is still currently an idea.
If i did go ahead with this it would make my wheels 17 x 9.5 +18 i think. Cheaper than buying 2 new wheels and also safer then running spacers but it's only an idea.. Costly one infact.. lol

On OEM guards you'll fill them easily. I've currently got 17x9 +30 and they used to fill my stock guards well!

I believe mine was made for race production, hence the finish didn't polish up as good as yours. Judging by the pictures they have done a good job with the kit and there looks like minimal work to be done. The main concern as with changing fenders is just the ability to open and close the door properly, thats the biggest challenge. Is it made out of fibre glass? Would be really good to see a 02-04 j racing kit in red. Also, anything to be done to the rear?
