Alright then,
Enough fooling around.
I had my wheels arrive last friday and as you all know there SSR and obviously i had a big box from J's Racing Arrive.
In the SSR box we have these.
SSR Type F
If i recall the Specs correctly.
Front: 17x9.5 +28
Rear: 17x8.5 +25 (Shown above)
I was rather excited when i left one out of the box and really amazed how light they are compared to the Work VS-XX Wheels i have!
But, i was like a boy in a candy shop when i opened this box
3 Parts were in here.
J's Racing (Pre-facelift)
Word of warning when buying this front end, the Winglets and Canards are extra. Please also note, the bumper and guards are made from Fibre Glass BUT the quality is incredible, a great finish which should require minimal to no touch up work
I went with the front bumper over any other because i loved the aggressive look it has but also because the splitter (underpanel, made of Carbonfibre [Major Sucker]) is simply bolted onto the bumper which allows easy removal when it breaks and replace as you can buy this part separately. I know there are DIY Splitters that people make but i like the fact that everything looks together instead of using other material... Im just abit anal i guess lol...
Alot of you may wonder why i didn't just facelift the car whilst i bought a new bumper....
Well to be honest, everyone is face-lifting there DC5's at the moment, i wanna keep mine different plus it was also a factor i'd have to go get new JDM DC5 Headlights cause i want OEM HID's...
Money is a big factor in all this and everything i buy at the moment is budget for the future build of my DC5.
J's Racing Front Guards
Some may think these aren't necessary but these guards will prevent any future guard work needing to be done on the front of the car as they give +15mm more stretch to the guards and allow a larger Tyre to be fitted upfront.. I can now also fit my J's Racing Fender bars on also!!
Before i can test fit anything, im currently waiting on my hardware to be sent from J's Racing Japan as they forgot to put it in the box but thanks to Leo @ JDM Concept he's sorted this all out for me and has been a MAJOR help in getting this to Melbourne for me.
I'm also thinking about running a J's Racing LED 'H' badge to complete the J's look but not to sure, need to search around and look for some photos... I might possibly leave the front De-Badged but i doubt it. Most likely going to be adding the J's Waza Sticker on the front after paint
That's all for now.
Big thanks to JDM Concept once again.
----------------------------------------------------
Before the new wheels can be fitted, i know that i need to raise the rear of the DC5 to assist in the clearance of the new wheels since they are slightly wider to my current 17x8 +30 on the rear. I will eventually sometime this year get the guards on the rear slightly pulled out to give abit more clearance on the rear as im not wanting a crap load of scrubbing on track.
Also running around making phone calls to panel shops to find out pricing on paints the entire front end (Guards, bumper and bonnet) as i want a matching look.
I plan to use the exisiting RE002 on the VS-XX Wheels and put them on the SSR Wheels, this is the reason i obtained brand new tires on the 17' Wheels prior as i knew i was purchasing new 17' Wheels.
Exciting time ahead!Last edited by MYDC5R; 23-01-13, 03:40 PM.
