So I made the trip down to Bro Exhausts this morning and had my headers installed and cat all welded up. I love the work they do at Bro Exhausts, Brendon who runs the joint does a top class job and his prices are the cheapest I've found.
So here she is all ready to go in. There's the test pipe there as well as the 200 cel high flow cat that I got.

Just tacked on the cat before all the real welding goes underway.

    She's all in!!!!!

In terms of fitment, the standard test pipe that comes with the Kiddracing header was a perfect fit. Brendon was shocked at how well it fit. Having said that, I opted to run a cat to keep it smog legal and the cat needed modding to fit. The kiddracing/CRSX header fit the stock AUDM DC5R sway bar with no problems at all. It was a none-issue, so those considering getting this header need not worry about getting a different front sway bar. In addition to this, after a good 45 minute drive, the car didn't throw a CEL, so thats awesome!

I didn't expect to feel much difference after installation but I was wrong. I felt much more gains than I did with just the catback, but I'm sure having a bigger exhaust on there contributed to the overall feel. I haven't yet taken it to a safe place for testing, but I definitely feel more throttle response throughout gears 1-3.

In terms of sound, there's only a marginal difference which is great. Had someone of put the header on without my knowledge I probably wouldn't have noticed a difference in sound when driving around normally, but once you put your foot down you do hear a difference, not louder, just different. The only way I can describe the sound is that it sounds like the engines breathing better and sounds like theres more airflow if that makes sense.

This Saturday the CAI, Engine mounts, sway bar, brake pads, LH driveshaft are all going in. I can't WAIT to hear the car with the CAI and I look forward to having slightly better braking and no more unwanted movement from my split engine mounts.

very nice Yes you wont hear much sound increase with the header but you can hear/feel the "woosh" of air as it passes through the exhaust better, you should hear a hiss with the window open as you accelerate.

Your car is going to feel like a different beast once those mounts go in!

Suprisingly, she didn't notice it until I asked her if the car vibrated more.. Maybe she just has more ass padding hahaha

So I just drove my car back from getting all the work.... and I was smiling the WHOLE way home !!!! It literally feels like a completely different bloody car all together!!!!
The engine mounts I believe are the BEST mod I've done , there is no hesitation upon acceleration, no engine stutter when changing down gears, it just feels so god damn solid! Plus, to make things even bloody better, my 2nd to 3rd gear crunch is COMPLETELY gone ! In my whole 45 minute drive I didn't grind gears at all, they moved perfectly into position each and every time! I LOVE MY ENGINE MOUNTS!!!! To no surprise, the car vibrated a little bit more, but I really like it, gives it a really nice feel. Gf didn't even notice anything had been changed, only when I said "does the car vibrate more", only then did she realize it, but it didn't bother her at all.

The rear sway bar is also amazing, just taking corners normally I can feel the difference in the rear end, it just makes me think how much of a difference it will make when I start driving a little bit harder and faster (GF was in the car).

Don't let me start with the CAI..... holy balls.... going into , it just bloody SCREAMS!!!! I've only heard the CAI induction noise from outside a car, and inside the car, it sounds like bloody ear pornography!

Good reports on the Hawks HPS brake pads as well. They obviously haven't bedded in yet but I can feel that the brakes have a lot more modulation, I really like it!

I really can't get over how different the car feels, I'm so bloody happy right now. I'm happy with the choice of mods I've made following the tried and tested I/H/E and I couldn't be happier. What I expected, and what was achieved from the engine mounts completely blew me away, I didn't realize how much of a difference it would make. It is, the sex!

Ok fuck this, I'm gonna go for another drive

Car seems so naked without the airbox, I was thinking of putting a rice cooker in its place

Thanks chief!! Bikes had a bit of work done since the photo, a new 70mm Thomson stem and a Funn bar for extra width hehehe.

You're totally right, they aren't overly noticeable unless you're a car enthusiast.

What on earth is Honda Nats?

Can't wait to Kpro this baby, after all the mods it already feels great and faster, can't imagine how it would feel with a Kpro.
My mechanic said not to bother with Kpro until I get cams, springs, retainers and a bigger throttle body. I'm on the fence about it as Kpro'ing with I/H/E and my other mods will reap a fair amount of gain, however, having cams, springs, retainers and a bigger TB would just be awesome....

Do it once, Do it right.... dang.... doing it right is so god damned expensive hahahaha.

Apart from Toda, what cams are out there on the market that offer relatively good gains?

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice stuff peachy. Jeez, you've modded your car more than I have ... and I've had my car since Oct 2010 lol :P

How are the hardrace mounts? Been tossing up between them and the innovative mounts. I don't really mind cabin vibration and what not, but if there isn't much noticeable vibration from the hardrace mounts, then I might as well go for them! edit: whoops nvm, missed your description of the mounts in your last post! btw did you get your hardrace mounts from jdmyard?

btw stevan if you read this, I'm the fellow from ozhonda who pm'd you regarding the clubrsx headers

Hey dude cheers for the comments

I love the hard race mounts, unfortunately all I can compare them to is split OEM front and rear engine mounts hahaha. Having said that I am confident that they are much stiffer than OEM having been a passenger in a few DC5R's/DC2R's with stock mounts.
At idle the rear view mirror vibrates which is definitely a non-stock feel haha. As i mentioned previously, the car feels different, everything seems stiffer, turning the wheel feels smoother around corners, down shifting feels accurate and there's no engine sputter (don't really know what to call it, but when u down shift and the car kinda jerks back and forth a lil). Everything just seems really solid is the only way I can describe it.
Whats even better is that I use to get gear grinding from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to third but this has completely gone away. I haven't felt that notorious gear crunch that the DC5Rs are renowned for since I got the mounts installed.

I didn't buy from JDMyard, I got them online when our dollar was strong. I got it for a touch under $400 if I remember correctly. How much do JDMyard want for them?

Truue. On ebay, JDMyard are selling it for $485 shipped. ouch! lol.

dammit, should've bought stuff from the states when the AUD was strong ... I've just been too lazy lately

Thats still not sooo bad, I just checked my purchase history on ebay and I got them for $383 delivered. Only $105 more to get them shipped to you quicker, plus you'll have local support as well There's always a positive

Just a comparison between my old scuffed up dc5r shift knob and the skunk2. The skunk2 weighs about double of stock, and the machining is tonnes better than OEM. The laser etching is pimp! I took it for a quick spin around the block and the added weight actually makes shifting feel more direct and precise, I wasn't expecting this at all.

The finish on this actually suits the interior a lot better than the stock silver in my opinion. To each their own I suppose Overall I'm very happy with it, installation was as simple as piss too, which is good for not-so-mechanical-minded people like myself
