        Noob SSD Question!

If I buy a SSD to replace my current system drive. Is it possible to copy/image across the current system drive and "paste" it to the new SSD and it'll run? Or are there extra steps?

Use an imaging utility such as Ghost and you'll be able to duplicate your current drive and partitions etc to the new SSD, provided that the data fits.

Download the Hiren BootCD (from any good torrent site), burn it (or put it on a flash drive) and boot from it, then run Ghost / DriveImage etc from there

                      Yes, a Thecus N4200... it's not a bad thing, have 4 x 2TB disks in it.

It's great to have a central place to store all my downloads / photos / etc etc.

Im looking at upgrading my system that I built few years back a bit!

                          CURRENTLY :
                          CM HAF 922
                          Intel Q9400 @ 3.6ghz with CM V8 cooler
                          Seasonic m12 600w
                          GB 48501gb
                          Asus p5q Pro Mobo
                          Seagate 500gb HDD
                          2x2gb G skill ddr2 & 2x1gb ddr2
                          running Vista Ultimate 64bit

Looking at upgrading to an SSD to run the Operating System Windows 7 & programs then the 500gb HDD for my data and my backup HDD for other stuff.

Was also considering a new mobo to support DDR3, memory to suit and possibly I7 CPU. haven't been into computers since i built this system so i've forgotten most!

SSD i was looking at i think the vertex 3or4 128gb OCX? or OCZ? forget now.
Any recomendations for other stuff ?

How much are you looking to spend? Comp parts are cheap these days compared to some years back! (built my first comp back in 2006 and 1gb ddr2 ram cost $176, roffle). Could probably do with a new gfx card unless you're happy with the performance you get with any games you currently play.
