      and correct me if im wrong but isnt it the thermostats job to warm the engine quiker and the reason they run rich when cold is because the fuel has trouble atomising when entering a cold chamber ? cause i was under the influence running a engine leaner makes it run hotter...

        if it is blue smoke, then yes, it is possibly excessive clearance of the moving parts - perhaps due to the different coefficients of thermal expansion rates of the metals...
