    then you must have a (probably small) vacuum leak somewhere...

    that is a major idle disrupter!

      I had this problem. It was the O2 sensor. Used to idle rough and power wasn't smooth for the first 20 secs or so after start up. Was okay when it warmed up.

        but i thought the ecu ignores the O2 sensor until it is heated up a bit... this is called "open loop".

        i think it goes into "closed loop" and reads off the O2 sensor once the coolant is warmer... (i.e. longer than 20 seconds, more like 180 seconds)

            Then short the jumper & set your ignition timing.

            BTW, don't rely on the factory tacho in the dash... They're usually wrong by more than a few 100 rpm

              sounds like a vacuum leak to me...track someone down with a smoke tester... those machines find the smallest leaks
