Any specific sets you'd recommend or are they all pretty much universal? Cheers

IMO generic steel nuts are the best, as is MCgard nuts, MCgard lock nuts stay away as their lock key is cheap and weak being aliminimum for the lock pattern....

I run either steel/zinc plated nuts or mcgard nuts.

Considering another wheel guys, they only come in 18 x 8.5 +44 - which tyres would I then go with if I didn't want the wheels to appear 'chunky' - or does it just go up in diameter? (225/45R18)

You can't keep asking people to spoon feed you mate, there's a tyre size calculator linked on the first page: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and M@ttlew has linked it a few times too. To maintain the correct diameter on that wheel you'd want a 225/40R18 or 245/35R18 tyre. Clearance of the inside of the wheel to the suspension parts will be minimal with that wheel, but it should just fit. I'd advise a test fit if possible though.

I'm not expecting to be spoon fed mate I'm trying to learn how to calculate the differences between wheel measurements.

(and thank you for your reply)

Wanting to run from rpf1's 17x8.5 +30 all round running on 225/17/45 tyres. Bought camber arms for rear already. Just wondering if rolling guards would be necessary, looking to run -2 camber on all 4.

It all depends on how low you are. But i don't think you'll have too muh problem fitting those specs. I personally would just get them rolled for piece of mind.

Okay did a bit more research on tyres and trying to see how they look so i'm thinking 18 x 8.5 +44 and running on 225/40/18.
1 - How different will a +44 off set be to stock visually?
2 - Is the image below pretty much how my wheels will sit?

I don't want the rubber too thin (eg; looks like the rim is nearly hitting the road) but then I don't want it chunky/thick either - sleek & sporty I guess, sorry guys still learning - so far just going by what looks and sounds good
