Do the Math.
Injen = $350
Mugen = $800.
Injen = slightly smaller gain, plus a weird thing happens on your dyno sheet (drop between 3-5krpm for some reason)
Mugen = Looks blingy, you can brag to your friends and sounds cool + adds 3kw +/-Last edited by Elwood; 15-10-08, 04:34 PM.

I always wonder why people look for the best bang for buck in aftermarket parts. The best bang for buck is to leave the car stock and learn to drive. A well driven stock Type R will beat a modified one driven poorly every time.
In terms of aftermarket parts there tends to be a point where spending more money gives incrementally diminishing returns. It is up to the individual to decide at what point they are unwilling to spend more money to obtain more performance. For me I err on the side of spending more money to get something that is not much better in terms of numerical results, but will perform flawlessly for a long time.
For the thread starter my vote goes to the comptech icebox, because pod on a pipe intakes are silly .

An intake is a placebo effect without other mods anyway. Even "big" gains of 3kWs can't be seen in real world driving.

totally agree.
best bang for buck intake for dc2r is leave the damn stock intake alone. honda's engineers spent masses of time and money designing and tuning it for optimum balance of throttle response, torque and power while maintaining reasonable cost and noise reduction.
or, if u want some power gains, a lovely 'tuned honda' sound and a nice classy look, mugen inatke is FTW. save up.

just a quick question about the injen cai.
i was planning on one of these for when i get my own.
but after looking at the j's racing tsuchinoko, i started leaning towards getting a sri instead.
is there much of a difference from the injen cai and the j's racing tsuchinoko?
as they are similar in price, and i dont know what would be a better benefit.
has anyone had experiences with both?

I have a Js Racing Carbon Fibre whales penis and its just loud loud loud... VTEC sounds fantastic. To be honest, I can't say I have noticed any increase in power. My mate with a DC2R says that you actually lose power when you take the cover off the stock airbox (SRI effect). So I might revert back to the stock airbox soon. Not for the power, but to lower the damn sound..

but the only difference is the pod has a password jdm logo on it.
are they made by the same people?
or password jdm is just a copy of it?

Well they said Dave R / In The Red copied the J's racing 60RS But I'm pretty sure it was the other way around.
but yeah, if you don't want to go 'aftermarket' the stock set up is quite good, Just remove the restrictive resonator behind the bumper on the drivers side and create your own DIY CAI feed with an aftermarket filter ( K n N )

Horse power is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you."
