also the reason why i dont like benchmarking what a engine does as a standard.. and using it as a selling point for products..
more to the point of the topic..
you should set out what u want to achieve for your car. if you have no clue then i think what me and tinks posted could be a good start.. in general we do single mods at a time to slowly build up our cars rather than throw insane amounts of money into the engine a hope it does a good time..
most of our cars have started out stock and moved to what they are now over the years. both of us are willing to work on our cars (even if it leads to disasters touch wood)... but its something you do over time not in one go.
Its a learning experience. theres many types of enthusiast
1. the diy mechanic
2. i dont mind paying someone to do it
3. i could do it myself but have no time. so i pay someone else to do it
4. i have no clue, better pay someone to do it
5. im a ricer i shop at cyber century they told me air intake adds 10kw..
your in sydney there is plenty of places to go see nice cars.
Tinks - Diy mechanic
TEam POV - diy mechanics...
IMO just start with a nice set of sussy set it up well then move to the next mod like air intake and slowly build it up. then you actually feel what each mod does to your car.

5kw from itr valve springs LOL.. who knows what happens when you put on no name headers... 1 bad critical part can fark up a complete setup imo.
Napoletana, do what YOU want to do.. get informed before you make any decisions...
if YOU feel like what your car is missing the most is more power then get more power.
that is how i feel about my car... I think the handling is great but it needs more power.
coilovers will let you regulate how high the car sits off the ground so they could solve your scraping issues. And they will make the car handle better.. but most likely they will also make the car feel much different on the road. The car will most likely be more uncomfortable on the road. Especially over bumps and pot holes.. Coilovers generally handle worse over bumpy corners.
if you want heaps more power then a turbo setup is the way to go.. but that's a complicated path and may result in a car that feels a lot different to what you imagined. It would be good to test drive a DC2R Turbo before doing this.
if you want a little more power then there are a bunch of simple mods you can do... each will add a bit of power.. i am guessing this is the approach you really want to go down.
And if you try this approach and your not happy then you can sell the parts for a little below new and not loose much money. (mostly labour costs)
what parts? I'd stick to the top quality parts..
mugen intake (~$800)
toda or maximworks headers (~$1300 or ~$1600)
metal cat (~$500)
if you like a quiet exhaust then fujitsubo RM01A (~$1200)
i dont know about the louder ones, they dont interest me... i am sure others can advise.
mugen ecu (~2000??) if you can find one
you might want mugen valve springs if you do mugen ecu unless you know your not going to over revving it.. not sure what that costs.. maybe $1200 incl labour???
all up should give you about 25kW@flywheel on top of your standard 141kW...
if you want more power than this then you need to do the above except the mugen ecu plus do cams, cam gears and injectors and different ecu and tune... costs will grow quickly with this...
there is a thread on www.OZHonda.com where Adrian from toda created a list of modifications, what they cost and what gains they are expected to make...
imo dont rush into anything.. take a little time getting informed first.

^ Yeh it was... Adrian removed it.
If you want that same outline again, im sure if you PM Adrian (TODA AU) he'd be more than willing to give you that info again.
Tom says: "Now remember kids, offsets are like women... they are best in their teens."
Ok.... here is what i am thinking.... and PLZ correct me if i am wrong, or if you advise against this!
Buddy Club Spec 3 Exhaust
Toda Headers
Extractors....???
i like where this is headed =P..
toda headers are extractors.. headers extractors exhaust manifold.. same thing.. right?.. lol..
my one question to you is..
when you watch TV do you have it on LOUD or medium or Soft.. because .. you will be watching your TV on LOUD from the day you install the buddyclub spec 3 =P

^ Daves breakdown above is actually quite good to work off...
Obviously the prices will vary with different brands, so thats where you should factor in how much you're willing to spend on that specific aspect of the car.
But yes... use that as a template per se to begin your modding/research
^Ive spent $6500 so far, and i only have 3 of the things on those list.
But remember..
I have Sumitomo tyres...
I went a differant way, maybe this will be of help to you as my car is mainly street driven (except on the 25th )
I bought my car bone stock except they had some ugly 18's and a xforce exhaust system. I came to this website and annoyed everyong and asked what i can do, just like you - NOT saying you're annoying
At the moment, i am saving up for some Tein Mono Flex coilovers, front camber kit, rear strut brace and an Apexi PFC ECU. My car is EASILY driven daily on the street and though i havnt had it dyno'd, it is most likely in the 110-117fwkw mark.
But remember, the 6 above (plus other minor stuff) added up to over $6000
Does anything else need to be done... tink do these "match"????
!
most JDM exhaust systems, will "match" to a good extent, most are made using high quality stainless steel and high quality welds, but most importantly are 60mm systems which will bolt up to the R's cat and suit the pipes on the larger 4-2-1 style headers...
