one issue that just came past, people that say grouppem is all good, have u seen the insides of the grouppem? Its as smooth as egg cartoon.

Wat they have done is made a blingy external cf layer which is baby butt smooth but left the inside *ie the most important side* wrinkled like shit :s

hey thats heaps interesting since people spend shitloads port and polishing their intake manifold internal to improve this same facet.

if you're scared about hrdrolocking from water splashing onto the filter, k&n make a 'sock' that goes over the filter, called the [/i]drycharger[/i]. the filter does sit up fairly high though, and i'd imagine you have to drive into a very deep and/or very long puddle to hydrolock. you can probably see that i'm all for the injen cai... and the experience that i had when i came REALLY close to hydrolocking was scary, but it was also an eye opener as to how big a puddle has to be before something like that happens. and i do like the fact that it isnt screaming out "defect me!" the second you open your bonnet.

i find it so strange that you hydrolocked you car when you had the short-ram in there... but then again railway pde around canley is terrible to drive down in the rain (i avoid it completely when it rains)

gives good gain for dc5R

Hydro locking is a very rare thing.

I had a injen style intake from teh TB down into the bumper with pod sitting down there.

Went to a lot of cruises with massive puddles ( inc the one with CRSX to singleton) and it didnt have any probs.

yes, i went from stock box at one dyno and got 103kw, then went to a different dyno when i had the mugen box and i did get 108kw. i would only assume that i got 5kw gain coz of different dyno different day, but even if i did go on the same dyno and same day, I was expecting about a 5kw increase atw. but that's just me... maybe u can ask others who have done stock vs mugen cai for dc2r.

as far as dc5 and mugen vs injen, well i would rather a mugen due to one factor of the filter getting dirty and having to clean it... too much pain for the injen? but in the other intake thread, sounds like gruppem is the way to go... but then thats just from reading ppl's comments... i dont have a dc5 to back up my opinion

after installing the mugen for dc2, i'd imagine it'd be a bitch to clean! i had trouble squeezing the box into that small area, the idea of taking it out to clean the filter is a bitch

lovin it so far though, hopefully gettin it dynoed next weekend
