I would say they are certainly better than the shagged SO3s that I took off my car, and they seem comparable to the S03s when they were new. That is about all I am willing to venture.

At more than $30 dollars cheaper per tyre for stock DC5 size I am happy though.

We may be going up to winton this friday, just waiting on the word from the other guys, and if so I will definitely try out the RE001 on the track .

Following on from my earlier post, I ended up going up to Winton for open practice today so I thought I would give my impressions of the RE001.

I went out for the first session after turning up with the RE001 on, didn't check my tyre pressures or anything so they would have been around what I usually run on the street (34F,33R, cold). After a bit of a warm up I got into it and the tyres felt really good, quite a bit of grip on offer for a street tyre. My best lap (with traffic, had to lift on the main straight to allow someone by) was 1:51.26 compared to my best time on street tyres with the SO3s of 1:50.7. I am confident I could have beaten my previous time with a few more laps but I wasn't keen to kill my street tyres.

I am by no means a highly tuned driving machine but for me the RE001 offered a comparable amount of grip to an SO3 at about 80% the cost.

My car is a DC5R with intake and exhaust and a couple of other mods. Changes to the car since the time set on S03s include a more aggressive alignment, JDM rear sway, and a slightly stripped interior.

just got them on this week, same as ChargeR I had the S03s before. yup, definately much quieter, thats about all I can say since I'm not racing this season

yeh, its asymmetric but not directional, don't know, maybe because brigestone compromised this because of manufacturing costs. having these made directional may increase their performance in the wet?

Mmm from what I've read one offical reviewer of the tyre when it was released said that the S03 was an outright quicker tyre but the RE001 gave much more feedback. That'd mean unless you're really gunning the car hard and know how to squeeze the last bit of performance out of the tyre, the RE001 would be the better choice for the average Joe.

                    I got quoted $175 for 205/50 R15 and $170 for 195/55 R15.

Also they are even cheaper than the GIII, I got quoted I think $180 for 205/50 R15.

When its time for a replacement, going to get these. Anyone else got a cheaper quote?

Oh yeh I am in Brisbane, from the BTC at the Big Top (Home Maker Centre), Logan Road.

How would these tyres compare to, say rt615 or rt215? And do they need to be warmed up before they start to grip well like the rt615s?

jing , these tyres are not semi slicks or a semi slick design, Simply a road tyre.
I have them , and they act no different cold or hot IMO.

BTW i got them $115 per corner @ bridgestone campsie in 195x50x15
