Well that answers my question, I'll be trying a Toda VAFC tune shortly and hopefully replicate that mid-range increase.

plus VAFC will (should!) give better fuel economy...

very interesting, thanks for clearing that up adrian

but yes the owner of the ecu does have toda 4-2-1 headers and he believes he doesnt experience the same drop in power where i do.

mm i have 4-2-1 m-bits and i don't feel a 'drop' in power at that point either.

re: engine temps, ive driven with both stock and mugen n1 ecu on the track (not the same day though), and found no difference in running temps of water and oil. (defi gauges)

i agree there is no point being on the lower cam profile if it is not in its efficient working range (ie too low in the rpm band) as this gives less torque and power.

lag is perhaps the incorrect word. basically i feel there is more midrange torque which gives me more acceleration out of a corner.

p.s. other thoughts on the mugen n1 ecu is the car seems to run smoother and, beleive it or not, a different smell - like it was running richer..

Ill get it off Steve after i have gotten a new hi-flow cat.

Will then get it dynoed, the cat is holding me back right now.

                    Should be interesting
