That's great to hear about the PP2's. I have been itchiing to hear about them from an ITR owner, especially a hardcore one...

Currently tossing up between AD07's and PP2's, do you have an opinion on that? How much were the 16" ones Cam?

Maybe we should take this to the tyre thread!

my current set of Falken RT215 has lasted almost 20k and will have maybe 10k more in them... and that includes 2 track days..

and i thought these were as hardcore as you can get without going to semi's ???

I wish I could have been able to compare AD07's to PP2's... I have heard the AD07 have lots of feel and good sidewall stiffness.

          Things I love about the PP2's :-
          - Awesome wet weather performance over original Pilot Preceda... incredible difference!
          - Quiet, even at the limits... no horrid screeching
          - Direct feel, without any noticeable tramlining effect, yet still compliant
          - High grip levels

          In 205/45 16" they were $215ea approx.

yep, hardcore crap - mine were useless after 12'000km...

hard as concrete... a RT215 that lasts over 20'000km =

just because they still have tread, does not mean they will grip in an emergency braking situation - you have been warned.

            and i THIRD - 16 in with 205/45's

it seems to me that they are great. i take rounded 90 degree corners at 60km/hr on the way to/from work.. everyday... no screeching.. it just grips fine. The rear slides out a little when i try to take a sharp 90 corner at over 50 but i put some throttle in and it grips..

i can see what your saying tinker but the tyres are fine imo. (though they could be crap and i just dont know cos my prev set were horrendous tyres)

i'll get szymonsta to drive the car and he can tell us if the tyres suck (are old and hard) or if they are good... maybe you psycho's just cant drive a car as smoothly and in a balanced fashion like i can

another issue in the 16 or 17 debate is brake kits.

you can fit larger brakes under 17" wheels that 16" wheels.

if you wanted to do a brake upgrade are brakes that need 17" wheels just way too big for the dc2? or are they realistic?

i dont think 90 degree corners 'on the way to work' give a good indication of tyre performance, as most half decent tyres will perform this task without a problem.

i wanted to show u the balance of my car before mic, remember?

ps i can confirm the previous opinion on YH ES100's - they are great imo, but only lasted about 10,000kms ! (keep in mind aggressive camber and toe settings though).

so yeah, coming from a dc2r owner with 17's, i would recommend 16x7 or 16x7.5's as the best choice. but 17x7s are a great choice too, no real disadvantage compared to 16s and they look really nice! (lets be honest, wheel choice is largely about appearance)

                    Definately 16"

Unless it's surely for show purpose... then 17" is fine.

Cam, thanks for such good feedback on PP2's. That's exactly what I'm looking for, I think they will be my next tyre. I haven't driven on AD07, but have been in an EVO with them (not ad046). They were noisy or thrummy but not screechy and seemed to tramline, but were obviously a great performance tyre.

I had 17x7 on my previous car and I liked the look. When done right it can really set the car off nicely. But I think 16x7 is a little more practical and still looks good while adding a bit more grip than stock.

ooh sorry chuck not liking those 17s so much :/ (no offence). i dont think they do the '17s on a DC2R' category justice.

                        here is piccies of mine:

it's fine mate, I have left my ricer days behind me anyhow!

My car was stock height, I think for 17's to really work if you are going after `the look', you do have to drop the car a bit.

                          That is one clean workshop!

yeah i agree, the secret to a good look is the lowered ride height, not massive wheels.

ps yeah thats why i take my car there only! the guys work is as immaculate as his workshop. (insert free ad: ProbeAuto Honda Specialists)

No problem at all Chuck, I think as far as street tyres go, you should be quite impressed should you choose them for your car!

Next time I'm in Sydney you're welcome to drive my car on them and see what you think... they will be fitted up to JDM 16's before then.

ive got RT215s on mine and they lasted me around 10,000km?? and its kinda bald now... was quite disappointed with the lifespan of these tyres...

hey freakygeek, cam... where did u get ur PP2's from?? i might just get them as my next set of tyres... the RT215s have already reached its threadwear marking point... how much do u think they cost for 205/50/15?
