Had the same problem occur today guys. Seemed worse this time. The idle went very slow and stalled. Unless I kept the revs up over about 2-3k then it would stall.

I wasn't far from my destination so I had the car turned off for about 40 minutes. Didn't stall again on the way home but the car doesn't feel "normal"..

This is getting very frustrating. Anymore info guys?

Ok will do. Will have to get myself a spark plug removal tool.

IS there a specific sized one I need to get into the B18C?

you might also want to check for ECU codes:

Ok so first of all. I check the CEL for any fault codes. The CEL light just stayed on. There was no flashing. With the clip removed the CEL code came on for 2 seconds and turned off as normal.

Now for the plugs. Here are the pics.

I also found some of this stringy shit in there. See pic.

Btw. Those plugs are 22,000km old on the dot.

OK - so no codes - that is good!

plugs look a bit rough, the only one that looks 'OK' is the LHS one, the other three look a bit sooty... but this can depend on how long the engine was running before you pulled the plugs out (short time = blacker, long time = lighter)

but regardless - those plugs should still be OK to keep the engine running... so not really closer to working out why it randomly stalls?

that thing in the spark plug hole is unusual, as it is supposed to be a black rubber seal, but there is that cream coloured stuff there, which could be a dodgy job of fixing a leaking sparkplug seal...

Hmm not sure about the cream coloured stuff. My regular mechanics would not had dodged anything up. And I changed the plugs last at 80,000kms so......

I'll give these plugs a clean and chuck them back in I guess...
