just like ALL new shapes,

fresh bodies "grow" on people...

the best thing about Honda is they grow POSITIVELY!

like the DC5 - i was not a fan - but now when i see one, i think they are very attractive adn well designed...

i am sure the aesthetics of the FN2 will grow on me too...

it is just that it is so different, that it will take a while...

the thing that i am upset about is gross KERB WEIGHT coupled with the RED Honda badge...

David, I'm sure they will introduce a stripped down, limited edition - honda won't miss a trick.

My biggest concern is the UK build quality, apparently there are paint finish issues & 3rd gear problems. There was also a picture where the Type R side decal had been installed crooked.

Edit: The reason they built a plant in Swindon (IMHO) is because the UK gobbled up all the previous model CTRs available, well beyond marketing expectations. Irrespective of how efficient the plant can run, their production bottle-neck is the speed at which they can obtain k20 engines from Japan.

usually aesthetics would grow on you because most people are NOT early adopters of design and style...

Honda designers need to figure out what would most people will eventually grow to like in 3 to 5 or more years time....but some car companies are better at predicting design and style than others, they can bring a car out now and and generates mass aesthetic appeal, but more importantly, the look/design/style lasts and ages well...

i just don't think this FN2 will age nicely (well, compared to the classic Hondas, ie EK CTR, DC2R)...but that's just one person's perspective.

it does sound pretty wrong but... the new car has bigger tyres and vtec now kicks in at 5400 rpm instead of 6000 or something... and with 1 person in the car with next to no fuel i think it would be possible... high grip drag strip clutch dump at redline in ideal conditions sort of thing

Yup ^ also the final drive has been shortened from 4.764 to 5.062:1

saw and old friend last night driving out of the carpark and he has a black one. initial thought, looked like a euro from the front lol. didnt get out to see it, but we just had a quick chat. he said he paid $43.5k for it, not sure how long he had to wait to get it. from what i could see, the interior looked ok, but it was dark and i didnt see much :P he said he didnt have any gear problems so far after I asked him bout 3rd gear. he said it is really smooth compared to his family car, 00 wrx (club spec evo 4 from memory)

Edit: They have i-Shift automated manual but only for the 1.8 i-Vtec engine in europe... hope they mod it for K-series

I test drove one today, and I can tell you its awesome in the flesh. And its freekin quick for a stock car. Gear changing is the smoothest I've ever come across.

MrThanh... the DC5R is lighter and faster with just as much potential... why dude why? Why not look at EP3 as well. I think the FN2 feels quick because of it's short gearing.

It's taking a long time for me to warm to this car... I guess if you just want a hot hatch that you don't track it will be OK. The rear-end still doesn't do it for me.
