Haha insurance is a must ! Otherwise you'd have something like this on your hands without a cent in your pocket! Like i did but luckily i had insurance

Through OP i'd prefer to be in the back these days and save it for track !

For 2k, good set of headers. Stock exhuast system is fine. Whatever left over get a good intake system.

LOL, That made me laugh so hard... Im not planning on being the "best at OP"... Just go there for the fun of driving with friends... But it would be nice to be able to keep up with some of my friends (EVOs + STIs)...

Oh well... I really dont want this thread to go any longer than it should... It became more of a discussion of what "you" would do, rather than "what would do what"...

Guess ill keep it as stock as possible...

          Cheers fellas

              Do bolt-ons:

              Intake
Headers + stock piping is sufficient
And ECU (hondata) and a good tune (dynodave)

You will feel a massive difference in engine performance espeically the mid-range.

With this, your car will be good for the occasional track-day. Get a good set of semi slicks..

Stock ITR sussy is very decent... dont need to upgrade it yet...

I agree with all Benson wrote ^ ^. The header is the key, cat-back doesn't matter until you do engine internals. Intake - Injen CAI or Mugen are both proven.

A stock DC2R is a great car and also unusual. It is well balanced and doesn't have any glaring deficiencies.

I think the best `mod' for a Type R is good tyres. Don't ever skimp on Tyres. Stock wheels with good 195/55/15 such as AD07/RE010/RE01R/Michelin PP2 are great. For Track Toyo R888 or Bridgestone RE55s are good value for money.

I am yet to see to Type R's with Coil-overs go faster at the track than Type R's with Stock Sussy. There is only 1 car I know of that does, but it also has a huge amount of engine work. The Stock suspension makes the rear a little loose, but that is good for rotation in corners. I agree with getting an alignment by East Coast Suspension ($110 four wheels).

Brakes only need better fluid and pads to resist fade - they won't make you stop that much better and only needed if doing more than 3 hot laps in a row.

DC2R only needs oil cooler if you are doing more than 4 consecutive hot laps, or lapping on hot days ~30 and above. Oil baffles are good anytime.

Good luck and enjoy the car!

Best Advice yet.. well.. to me personally at least... Ill be leaving the suspension stock.. maybe just an upgrade to JDM swaybars... but even that might not be worth it.. Lol... keeping it as OEM as possible...

Dont need an oil cooler.. Type R has the water to oil normaliser. Even by then you would want to back off to give the tyres a rest.

If your going to wakefield, just short shift around the fish hook. Saves the engine from oil starvation. I usually used 3rd gear through there, due to the extra torque from the mods.

A stock b18c7 motor has pretty gutless until you hit Vtec, but a few bolt ons can change that. With more mods to the car, you dont have to rev it as hard, as the extra torque will carry you throughout the rev range.

                          Have fun at the track!

RE: Oil Cooler, this is a good thread.

                            http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=752447

FYI - I was posting based on results of Oil temps at Wakefield, in summary an ITR with I/H/E and 9 row oil cooler was hitting 125C after 5+ laps. In a previous session at Wakefield I saw a near stock Type R reach 150C+ after 5 laps with outside temp at 32C.

Many other threads on h-t.com show oil temps hitting 160C+ on the Track (and autobahn lol) and then 120C after fitting Oil Cooler.

So I think an Oil Cooler is a good thing, but you can minimise the need for it by lapping less.

I always run the Heater in my car during the cool down lap too.

That much of a difference huh?

I realised after a spirited run up a scenic drive, that the stock dc2r really is gutless out of the corners.. As you might or might not know, you are stuck in 3rd gear for most of the corners as you are just under the rev limiter, but by taking a corner in 4th gear, you have no torque at the corner exits.. I'm a totally noob driver and I'm also sure that many people can easily take their dc2r's faster through that road but this is the realisation that ive come across...

Lol.. don't know how that was related but just figured that this car really doesn't have much out of corners.. So maybe a change of plans is in order.. Lol.. I/H/E is probably coming in due time...
