Not hard to get a roll cage passed for a RWC. Just make sure it's padded if your going to use it on the street.
Also Cusco Cages apparently don't pass CAMS regulation due to the material there made out of.. that's what i last heard anyway? Someone can correct me if im wrong though
From what I know regarding half cages, they are legal for road if the car is registered as a two seater and does not pass the b-pillar. Not sure on CAMS. Full cage is possibly to be registered for on road purposes but I'd say that the engineering aspect would be quite detail.
My car will be registered as a two seater and engineered with a auto power half cage at the back. According to my engineer it will pass with the modification permit.

It just snowballs with technical and safety issues once you decide to put a roll cage in a street registered car..

It's not the material it's made out of, it's due to the diameter of the tubing + the "through dash" design. No issues with the cage being chromoly.
