might be a better way to raise the issue?

    what do you think?
    Do as you please.
The photo of the last broken mount could be possibly to a failure installation or could be due to poor quality. Either way, no way of possibly knowing.
Do as you think is necessary as i can't change the thread title as im not a moderator. You are on the other hand.

done, and as i said before - in respect of the OP's DC5 mount - that looks like heat damage...

      and could have been prevented...

        In all seriousness,

Do explain how (Seriously, not being a smart ass)

He said he is running a race header, so a heat shield is not viable, would wrap fully prevent that amount of heat causing the problem again? Honestly?

          1. heat wrap - easy to find, buy and install
          2. heat shield - DIY, just takes time and some skills
          3. heat coating - most expensive, but works a treat
          4. all of the above

this is the problem with the internet.....all pictures but no info

i wouldnt read too much into it....there are so many variables unknown its not funny....biggest being environment.

            im no polymer expert but from what i remember from my uni days;

there is always a give and take.....high temp perfromance in most cases is done with a sacrifice at low temp.

first photo indicates thermal cracking...which usually results from brittleness....brittleness usually results from leaving the bushings in extreme cold temperatures (ie overnight snow) and then introducing quick heat (ie.vtak next day)

do that regularly for a few months and I wouldntt be surprised if this happens.

now lets all abandon innovative...because their mounts have 'failed'

Exactly the same thing happened with Rota wheels.

This man knows the score, despite his lack of capitals and extreme use of ellipses, designing the mount and selecting the urethane for all environments isn't as easy as some might think. I agree with tinkerbell, temperature seems to be a significant factor in those failures.

Yeah but Rota are crap for other reasons .

i understand what you guys are saying in terms of heat damage and how we can't blame innovative directly in 99% of cases for making dodgy mounts,
but when i was researching, there seemed to alot more of these storys pertaining to innovative compared to hasport,
so maybe innovative do need to re-evaluate there compounds?

hey guys i had a look at my mount today and it appears that the rear 60A innovative mounts DOES have signs of deformation and/or heat damage that has been causing sloppy shifting feel and increased axle tramp lately.

I will email innovative for a replacement bushing and go about buying a front mount as well. I feel that i will also need to heat wrap the header to protect further inserts from suffering the same fate.

BTW guys for those that want the insurance of using a front mount to relieve stress solely on the rear one, i will be putting up an EOI thread for Innovative front mount purchase in the trade section.

                        Heres a few photos:

Rear mount from Passenger side view

Rear mount from drivers side view

You can see in the second picture that the mount looks to be burnt on the bottom and has been pushed out towards the drivers side. I had a feel at the bottom of the insert and it felt cracked and rough.

From the passenger side you can see the mount has deformed inward slightly. It is impossible to tell the extend of ovalling whilst the mount is on the car but these photos clearly tell that it isn't going to be very good.

I don't think that this happening shortly after tuning was a coincidence, the header is probably radiating a much larger amount of heat. I would suggest you guys with poly mounts to either fab a heat shield or heat wrap the header to protect your inserts.

They don't sell a front mount, I figure if I can get a replacement insert I'll try out all 4 mounts with a heat wrapped header and see the result. If the rear fails again ill replace it with a has port mount
