So I've finally had some time to upload the very few pictures from my phone to my flickr account! Here's a quick write up from my perspective of the day:
After a couple last minute changes, (the main one with the cruise now being a lunch cruise rather than brunch) we were all set to go. I was 50/50 on taking my car on another long drive after a few issues coming back from Wakefield on the Monday of that week. So I talked to my buddy Fahad about giving him some company and someone to talk to for the long drive. He was happy to have me co-pilot with him which was great!
On Sunday morning Fahad picked me up at around 6:45am and from there we headed to the local McDonald's for a quick bite. There we met Nathan and Mrs Nathan, and at around 7:40am we headed along the M7 to the cruise meet-up spot in Windsor. Sugi and Jaz (from Melbourne) were already there surprisingly! Soon after many more people turned up, probably around 10 cars in total. I was really surprised that this many people turned up even though the weather forecast was very wet for the day. After waiting for a bit we decided this was everyone, and I said a few quick words before we headed out to Singleton via Putty Road!
With around 50 km's left till Singleton the Tamworth guys drove past, they did a u-turn then joined us back up to Singleton. Unfortunately when we did reach Singleton it started to rain so the plans of parking outside for some nice photos were pretty much ruined. We parked out front of the Hotel, waited for our Newcastle friend Jacob, and then went inside where lunch was awaiting us! With everyone seated and enjoying their meals I managed to take a quick snap of the gang!
These country folk have definitely never heard of my name before!
The gang!
After lunch we knew there wasn't much we could do since it was raining, so we decided that it was best for everyone to head back home. We said our goodbyes and the rest is history!
Thanks to all those who did brave the weather and weren't afraid of a little rain! For those who didn't come, you did miss out on a good day and a great drive. I was thinking about our friends in Northern NSW and Newcastle for this meet, hopefully catching up over lunch. This was my first time at organizing a cruise, and it was quite a bit stressful (particularly finding a place for everyone to eat at). Thanks to Dave (tinkerbell), we managed to find (and book) a nice place to have lunch at (The Royal Hotel Singleton). Hopefully on the next cruise we'll have a bigger turnout, and some nice weather for a change!Last edited by Shakeel; 08-07-13, 12:17 AM.
