    Few updates, good and bad :/

    Did a test fit of the gathers rear speaker pods, they look awesome! Theres factory plugs either side at the rear which are taped back, my mate reckons they are for these however I feel they are for the factory rear fog lights which came on the euro market builds, shall have to consult my wiring diagram for the chassis and confirm.






    annnd now for the bad news. Unsure if I mentioned it in my Honda Nationals post for this year, it rained heaps over the Friday night, when arriving at the track on Saturday I noticed the rear pod passenger side where the gather speaker pods now go was full of water, which had run down onto the battery and into the boot spare wheel well. I decided to go hunting, and what I thought it to be was correct. Rust has come through, can't see the tiny hole but I'm sure it's around the hatch hinge sealant, they always leak through there from cracked sealant. Bit disappointing, when I saw it I felt like I'll just push the car back into the garage, take the plates off and leave it for a while, which I probably will to be honest apart from World Time Attack Challenge and hopefully 1 more Wakefield day. Trying to focus on my RT4WD wagon build, plus have a Japan trip next January.





    And the final last good news, this arrived this morning. I feel like I should have installed one of these a while ago tbh, I do also have my battery mounted in the boot with the cable running behind the dash from the passenger side to drivers, so I could simply cut it there and run both ends behind the center console. I plan to run it in the factory cig lighter location like my friend Mr Spooner did on his EF, cheers Mr Spooner for the pick off your build thread :P

        neither, as we all know you gotta dig around to see the actual damage, but I can see through the layers either side and it doesn't seem too bad. tbh probably just grind it out, slap some weld in and done

              Yeh only crap thing is ideally I need to take the roof liner out, however I feel that's a little impossible now with the cage in there :/

                So nothing has really happened with the car, been getting pumped with uni assignments and now studying for final exams which are next week. The car kinda just sits in the garage and I take it out once in a while. Here in Australia we had World Time Attack Challenge 2 weeks ago and it did come out for some photos with another EF5 sedan and a concerto, I'll have to upload those photos another time. As we speak I'm booking in for a Wakefield day on the 18th November which will be my last trackday for this year and probably the first few months of next year, as I'm travelling to Japan at the start of next year and I'm wanting to get some brand new coilovers for the old girl as well, something a bit more track suited.

                I have purchased a shift light (this exact one) off eBay from somewhere in China, as usual it's taking fkin forever to come. When on track I usually shift early as I have no shift light, and don't have time to look down at the cluster when going through sweeping bends. I do have the CEL shift light setup on the Hondata however it's not very bright and low down, sometimes the steering wheel is in the way if turned, so I decided to get one of these. I personally like them, can't wait to install.

                  So this arvo I decided to have a break from studying for my final exams and start tackling this battery kill switch. As previously mentioned I wanted to mount it in the factory cigarette lighter hole so it looks part of the dash, neatly tucked away. I disassembled the cigarette lighter by loosening a bolt on the back although with everything coming out and turning the metal outer casing to remove the silver metal piece a phone charger would slide in to. The kill switch wouldnt sit flush against the back so I had to notch the lower plastic so it could. One tool I keep forgetting to purchase is a dremel, would be so handy for these, however I wasn't bothered to go bunnings so I improvised with a spare soldering iron (this is a spare center console I have which will act as a prototype).



                  Kept going until I could have the switch sitting flush against the backing of the center console, the front plate sits nicely around the switch as well. I only taped it in place for now, will have to look into a way to mount it, probably just the threaded holes it comes with. As my battery has been relocated to the boot, I actually have the positive wire run behind the dash from the passenger side to drivers, I'm hoping theres enough length to cut it in the middle and have both pieces reach the switch, however I feel that wont be the case, and then guessing I'll have to go but some more... nothing like $20/metre of 2 gauge wire..

                    Took the old girl out for a spin last weekend, been a while since I've driven her, can driver it anytime just usually not bothered tbh.. Good to stretch its legs and give it a dose of vtec here and there



                    With my final Wakefield day this Sunday for the year I started to do a few small preps on her over the weekend. I've done a few track days this year, maybe 3 or 4, I wanted to do more however it's been a busy year and expensive as well with the roll cage at the start of the year with my issue of switching between seats.. Unsure what next year will bring tbh, planning to remove coilovers to fit them into my wagon and then buy brand new coilovers for this, stuck between the GAB SS-R that BYP run in all their cars/customer cars OR the BC (something, ZR?) that has the external res as well, same level as the GAB SS-R.. Any opinions?

                    Anyways.. my shift light finally rocked up from China, planning to wire it in Wednesday on my rdo, thinking of mounting it around here. I really hope it works haha, would be very useful I feel. A bit bigger than I thought it would be.




                    It was also time for some new pads, my Intima SR have gone through some abuse, maybe 6-8 tracks days? Was able to run 10 constant hard laps without any brake fade. Looks like I used all the pad as well. I purchased the same ones from Intima whilst at WTAC, and got my mate Matt to machine my DBA T3 rotors as they were a little warped, probably from the heat they've gone through. Bedded them in and they feel awesome, might do a quick brake fluid flush on Saturday before putting the car on the trailer.

                    Also chucked the semi's on so shes ready for a wheel alignment first thing Wednesday morning. Oil change as well on Saturday and we should be sweet. I'm really hoping I can get into the 1.09's, regardless on the outcome I'll be having fun, but if I don't get into the 1.09's I'll be sad, but oh well, I'll just have to return next year to try again.

                          Okay so it's been a while, had all the hype built up prepping the car for another Wakefield day last November/December (it's now May the following year lol)... anyways..

                          The track day was a success with a new PB, nothing major only went from 1.10.8 to 1.10.4 but still closer to that 1.09 goal. I'd usually give a recap of the day but I've forgetten it.. Guess everything went well there was no issues, heres a video of my fast lap and a few flicks:

                          Little annoyed with my GoPro, the quality of the recording due to it being a sunny day ruins everything, hard to see the track.. played around with the visual settings but yeh couldn't get a nice quality.. Maybe I'll need to look into making a small box to go around each side to block out some light

                            The car is now 30 years old, here in NSW theres a 'historic rego' we can get for any car thats 30years or older, pretty much way cheaper and can only drive 60 days a year (I barely do 10).. I went for the conditional as my car is fairly modified and the historic is meant to be 'stock'.. Actually don't mind the new plates



                            But now, onto bigger and better things.. Previously I've mentioned how my current coilovers were quite shot, some might recall when I got the semi slicks in the rear I went from a 195 to a 205 tyre, and as soon as I started driving the tyre just got munched. On the track it was deadly.. Spent a whole track day just raising the car which completely fkd the alignment. Issue was my coilovers I had them for 4yrs and tracked, and I bought it off someone who had them for 4yrs too and also tracked as well. They are only a good street level coilover. The car was squatting up to 50mm through turns or more, there was a 20mm gap in the end between arch and tyre, and it was still scrubbing half way down the sidewall..

                            Anyways, I've finally purchased some 'proper track' coilovers. My mate Steven from Yez Racing supply BC coilovers, they recently ran a 1.10.7 (.7 or .8?) in their ED which has a B16 along with the whole Honed Development catalouge.. Very good for the old B16 (put me under the pump) so I decided to go with the same application, the BC ER coilver. This unit runs an external reservoir which allows more oil to be contained than a conventional coilover, to slow down oil temp increase (from the site..). We went with a custom spring rate setup, 14kg Front, 10kg Rear. They also have the usual adjustment ontop of the coilover, but also another adjustment on the bottom of the external reservoir which is for the rebound. I have had these sat in the garage since I took this pic for about a month now, finally going to be taking the car out this weekend to my partners house to install them there as I can leave the car jacked up and work on it whenever (space in back yard).




                            I've also finally picked up a Ecliptech Shift P1, I've wanted one of these for a long time however they are discontinued. One happened to pop up and I jumped on it straight away, I installed it but had trouble calibrating it to match the cars output for the RPM, so that is another task of many I'll be doing in the next 2 weeks. This is because I've booked in for another Wakefield day on the 16th June to hopefully piece it together with the new coilovers and FINALLY get that 1.09! Stay tuned!

                              Do you have the instructions for the shift light? It took me a little while to get mine to work, but not impossible with some patience and driving through the neighbourhood revving your car.

                                I got the instructions off the website. When I tried this I think I had it connected to the rpm wire from ECU. Today I connected it right to the dizzy wire and it worked a lot better. Set up the low rpm to 2k rpm just to test (launch control is set to 5k rpm) and everything seemed to work. Upon setting the RPM step size to 1k it then just kept the lights on the entire time. Trying to navigate to specific 'modes' wouldn't always work either.

                                I was going to ask you which RPM step size setting you had yours on.
