    Artic Blue DC5R (Perth)

    Hello,

So a bit about me, Im from Ireland where jap imported Honda's are absolutely everywhere, I think at one time in my young life all of my mates either had eg sir's, ek9 type r's, crx's, dc2r's or a dc5r's and so on so I found it only fitting that eventually i would need to keep the tradition going. So fast forward to Jan 2013 I had just sold my previous car before going travelling and needed something new, as always ended up on Gumtree searching everything under the sun and eventually I decided a DC5 had to be purchased.

Now when i First bought this car it had some minor mods done to it:
    - Brembo Brake conversion (Front)
    - APP braided brake lines
    - Hardrace engine Mounts (side)
    - Exedy H/D Clutch stage 1
    - Exedy Flywheel
    - DC Sports Cat Back Exhaust
    - PCI bushings
    - Hardrace Rear camber kit
    - Curcuit hero Extender
    - ARC titanuim Gear knob
    - JTC adjustable short shifter

Nothing too major and I said to myself thats the way it will stay until I caught the Bug! I had owned the car for probably about 10 months at this point. I found a workshop by the name of KYP in Perth and thats when it all started. I finally had found the guys who where going to show me the way, I had trust in them working on my car because they were honda mad as well and thats something you dont see much of in Perth all that much.

So then I said some simple mods nothing too major not looking to go over board so I asked them for some opinions and we came up with a plan that this car would be for street and track purposes. They took what I had as a base and we started to add in from there.

    - M&M Intake Manifold Gasket
    - HASPORT 60A rear engine mount

    - TEIN Street flex coilover kit
    - Project Mu SCR-PRO 2 piece rotor (front)
    - Dixcel slotted rotor (rear)
    - Project Mu racing pad HC (F & R)
    - Reverse Tie Rod Ends
    - Camber Blots on the front to take to maximum possible camber

    - Gruppe M Cold Air Intake
    - FD2R Intake Manifold, ported and polished to fit DC5
    - Spoon 70mm Throttle Body
    - Karcepts Throttle body adapter
    - Custom Made piping from throttle body to Gruppe M
    - Toda cat back exhaust
    - NGK Racing Spark Plugs
    - Hondata K-pro ECU, Tuned by KYP

And this is what we ended up with...

Now I was content for only a short while, I felt that it was lacking a little bit of power in the mid range and decided that I needed to resolve that at once, it only had been street tuned at this time and not on the dyno but before I got a chance to properly tune it I was already planning the next stage of the mods which would be implemented almost immediately and so follows,

    - Toda Racing Manifold to complete the exhaust set up
    - Toda Spec A3 Camshafts
    - Toda VCT Cam Gear
    - Toda Adj Cam Gear
    - Toda Valve Springs
    - Toda Chain Tensioner
    - Toda Timing Chain

So that brought with it the end to my modifications for at least a little while but of course it would be complete with a new set of tyres the original Kumho's that the previous owner had on just were not up to scratch any more so that got me thinking again so I decided to finish off the car with a new set of Advan Racing RGIII's wrapped in some Yokohama AD08R's. I got my mates at KYP to order these rims directly from the supplier and while they were on one of there many trips to Japan collected these direct from the supplier. Advan told them that these are the only set of RGIII's in Western Australia that they know of so I kind of feel a little bit privileged to have these on my car.

So I'm still not really finished just yet.............................
Still to come probably by the end of this year will be
    - Toda Clutch and Flywheel,
    - Carbon Synchro's for the gear box,
    - Final Drive,
    - Lsd
    - Strut braces, fender bars etc

and then I think I will be happy to leave it that and start on something new.............................

The Guys at KYP have recently gotten their own Dyno, they have said that they think with the new one they should be able to increase these figures even more but until then this will have to do but on the hp chart its just increasing all the way to the end!!!

Cheers mate! Sounds really good not that loud nice deep note and pops a little but not too much! I would say the cat back exhaust from dc sports was just as loud as the full toda

Welcome mate! Great to see another Perth type R on the forum. We should all meet up some time. There are a few track days running at barbagallo that you should attend. Would be a good avenue to test out those lovely mods.
