    Steven's 01 S2000

Hey guys, some of you may have seen my previous and rather short lived build thread on "CL-907" the white accord euro. Well I received a very unexpected offer for the car that I simply could not refuse, so within a couple days of that offer the car was with it's new owner... it was definitely sad to see this car go after 2 years of trying to make it one of a kind.

So the hunt begins for a new car and it had come down to 2 that I have always thought I would love to own one day, they're the R32 GTR and the S2000 however after taking some time to think I had set my mind on the s2000, I felt it was something i had to do now or i would regret not owning one down the track when it would just be impractical. At first i was set on an AP2 but after a bit of searching i realised the good ones where at crazy prices and the few that had a decent price tag were written off. So i gave up on them and started looking for an AP1, it had to have a good owner, reasonable km's on the clock and it had to be straight. To my surprise i had found one only a couple of days after making the switch to AP1's....

    So here she is..

    2001 Silverstone AP1 S2000

Just clicked over to 101 000km's, bought off a mature mother, full service history, always garaged, no accident history and in 100% original condition.

I was extremely happy with the purchase and I'm now a proud owner of a Honda s2000 . So obviously being 13 years old it's not perfect, It's unique to "clutch buzz" but thats nothing that really worry's me, also the previous owner bumped into a tow bar while reversing....

I was able to get the number plate surround and tow cover from work (honda dealer), but it would have to be sent to a body shop for the small dent on the bend in the bar and the dent on the bottom black lip.
She had also scrapped up under the front bar quite a bit, so i thought while the car was at the panel beater for the dents ill get the lip repaired, that way the car is in perfect condition before the mods begin...

To my surprise the number plate surround and tow cover came sprayed and we had them in stock, winning

Got the car back from the panel beaters, very pleased with the job they did.

So i proceeded to give the car a service using oem Honda and some Nulon oils, with a spark plug change and a tappet adjustment.

And a little interior touch up...

    Stay tuned, mods to come

Very nice clean s2000 man. Before I purchased mine I literally came down to a r32 and a s2000 as well
Also had to purchase a rear tow hook cover too haha
Keen to see how this progresses.

Thanks Felix If you're referring to the valve adjustment, no they were pretty much all within spec, but i don't think the car has had a very hard life so that would be why. As a whole the car only needed minor adjustments

So i've been getting a little bored waiting for some bigger parts to come in, so i took care of some smaller thing's while i wait.

First off a coolant bypass mod to keep the intake temps a bit cooler...

Now I am yet to decide what I'm going to do on the intake side of things, the plan for this car in the near future is to get some boost running through it, the the last thing i want to do is spend big dollars on a carbon intake that i may only use for a couple months, so for now the OEM box stays, and a replacement k&n filter gets put in...

One of the things i had left over from my Accord Euro that i never got to install was my Defi Advance link series gauges and control unit, as i am going to track this car a fair bit I decided to install these now even though the car is stock, for this car I didn't want a whole row of gauges look, so i went the simpler, cleaner look and purchased a Defi ZD display unit, it's an awesome little device!

From day one of owning this car i was set on tracking it in it's standard form to put down a base line and to see what mods made how much of a difference to lap times. Well tomorrow i will be attending a Circuit Club track day at wakefield park to do exactly that.
Stay tuned for a wrap up of the track day and gopro footage

So my s2000's first wakefield Circuit Club day is done and dusted and it's safe to say that the s2000 in stock form is awesome lol. The aim for the day was to try and stay close to my mates DC2R on the time sheet, however he could only do one session after he started to feel grinding when selecting 4th and sometimes 5th, one would automatically think it's a synchro problem..but they were changed about 30 000km's ago after a full gearbox rebuild, so we put it down to a bad batch of Nulon gearbox fluid for now. Anyway back on to the s2000, It was my first time pushing a rear wheel drive hard around a circuit so it was a good learning curve, i could do it fine on grand turismo but in real life it's slightly different lol, overall the car handled very well even with terrible conventional Falken tyres and i look forward to modding it and pushing those times down.

So my PB for the day was a 1:14.3. It was .4 slower then my old heavily modified Euro so not too bad for stock.
Heres a video of my 2 best laps of the day, i believe the 2nd lap was the 1:14.3, it probably could have been better if i drove a bit cleaner and didn't kick it out around the sweeper.

Overall a good day thanks to the circuit club guys

Nice man. Love the defi zd display. Its such a nice, stylish, and tidy setup. And u just read the number fir data instead of looking at a needle and counting roughly whar it is... you dont have time for that on the track especially
