So I came to somewhat of a crossroads with my turbo astra with regards to its ability/suitability for the track.
I had purchased cams and a standalone ECU to go further with it, but looked at the cash that would have been outlayed and thought it more sensible to look at other options.
The Astra, whilst relatively quick, is much better as a street car due to early spool, oodles of torque, leather seats etc.
Going further for the track would have ruined it.
So the hunt was on for a more suitable track car, i looked around at the options and yes being the FWD fan that I am, looked in this direction.
I missed my old sr20ve pulsar, the light chassis, response and 8000rpm+ revs, and having to wring its neck for performance, but doing conversions etc didnt appeal to me from a cost/effort factor.
I've always respected and admired Hondas, they really are the kings of lightweight, FWD performance, so I looked at my options.
After looking at an old old EF civic - i was going to buy but seller pulled out at the last minute, road tested some shitter 250,000km VTIR integras with the intention of building them up from scratch, when a friend informed me a friend was selling his converted EG civic.
I organised a test drive, was impressed and did the sums on what the gear in it would cost me to slap into a cheap civic/integra and the sums came in favour of the car with the lot already done.
Some history on the car....
It was built back in 2004 by Gabe (owner of honbits), who took a JDM Type-R integra and other parts cherry picked, and piled over the bits to an EG chassis.
Its been through a couple of owners since then, and now I picked it up

On the way:
QFM A1RM pads
DBA 4000 T3 clubspec front rotors
Penrite Race brake fluid
Fire extingisher
Sump baffles
These will be fitted this week in prepration for the cars first track day on the 14th December.
More long term plans
Fixed back seat on buddy club rail
take out some of the interior
Hondata S300
Cams of some sort (Kelford, Buddy club, Toda)
replace some of the suspension bushings
maybe a different axle-back muffler and high flow cat/de-cat (twin loop is a bit quiet / restrictive for a mostly track car)
