Haha thanks mate, it did have to be done. Loved the exhaust that came with the Teg, but the spoon is such a work of art. Its polished with every wash. Our roads are shocking for dirt over here, And in the winter they salt the roads so it does keep me busy.

    Thanks for the welcome guys,

Welcome mate! Just wondering, what do you mean my your kakimoto broke down inside?! Was it the resonater that was gone? Wondering coz I'm running the exact same exhaust ATM and I'm getting a lot of rattling ATM throughout the whole rev range and wasn't sure if my resonaters gone or its from my cat (which of pretty much brand new).
        Thanks.

When im back at my pc ill post up some pics, but yes. The mid section was rattling on idle, then a very raspy rattle at higher rpms, but luckily the resonator is right by the join to the back box. Its the baffels that went on the inside that were rotten at both ends, so its just like a tube floating round in there. Managed to fish it out, clean it up, get rid of the silencing material, the flange one end and re-weld it on the end closet to the back box. ( if that makes sense) lol

Then 3 months later the back box did the same. Haha so i mated the spoon . When the cars off, just get underneath and wiggle the exhaust you should hear it. The welds on a kaki are very thin, the inside is steel and the outer is titanium so its bound to rot but it sounds demonic when its unsilenced. Still bearable ant speed but in vtec... Coorrr like a fighter jet going past.

Ok, so here's my old exhaust setup....the kakimoto FullMega N1 catback.

And like danielj above, I thought my cat was breaking down as i could hear an annoyig rattle throught the whole rev range. so on a closer inspection i found the mid-pipe baffels had become rotten at each end inside the chamber. Quite lucky really it was so close to the edge. This is what i mean...

I managed to remove the baffels, clean off the rust, remove the silencing material and flange one end so when it was inserted back in, it wouldn't drop all the way through and back into the chamber. A quick weld and it was secure. Then the back box decided to do the same which was un salvageable. So this was ordered...

              Such a piece of art.

              JDM Brand whore yo!!!! haha

Heres it on, (another) suits it really well. Wouldn't think a little thing can be so noisy

              Hope this helps daneilj

Spoon is an awesome exhaust. Looks so subtle but cute haha! I would love to hear how it sounds on your Teg, youve made it out to be a monster!

haha I did have a cheeky video but its not on my Facebook anymore, definitely doesn't do it justice on a video though. There are louder systems out there, this is my limit really, there's guys over here with the J's 70RR systems and custom 3 inch pipes which will blow you're mind. How they haven't been pulled amazes me, but yeah the "Spakimoto" as it's been nicknamed is a unique noise thats for sure.

Im looking to do the V lip thing which seems to be the rage over by you... no one has really done this in the uk, so im thinking thats next on my list of to-do's. I love that thinking outside the box look. are they relatively easy to fit?

Decided to clean my throttle body over the weekend just to tick it off my list, and im glad I did. I wasn't experiencing any of the usual symptoms that you may hear some talk about, as far as I was aware it was all running perfect , untill afterwards. haha What a difference!!!!! everyone should do this, but here are some pictures of mine and how I went about things.

Firstly, I removed my air intake so i could see what i was dealing with. I have never taken this apart before, so I was a little bit apprehensive at first, but once I got stuck in, it wasn't too bad atall.

                        Exposed the TB......

I then took the battery out. When I changed the battery last year, I forgot to put the cover back over the new one, so it was the prompt I needed to remove it and install it properly, but it really did help with space. Glad i removed it. Gave it a little spruce up underneath whilst it was out......

                        After...

Then Unpluged everything around the throttle body. There are three visable ones, and the IACV plug is down and to the left with a rubber cover over it. (as you look at the TB straight on form the battery,) This ones abit more fiddly

Next I unbolted the throttle cable bracket, (The brass coloured thing) and gently removed the wire that's wrapped around the wheel.

It then slides out to the right.

Then grabbed my trusty bolt tray. DIY imporv FTW!! haha

Then unbolt the TB. There are 2 nuts, and 2 Bolts holding it on, 2 on top, 2 underneath. Dont drop them ....... This is where removing the battery came in handy with the extra space.

It will probably be secured to the manifold quite well, so a persuader of some sort is needed. Can use a hammer/ bolster, but dont drive a screwdriver in there. Common sense on where you tap it though, but I found that a good wiggle with a pair of grips clamed over the two bolt holes that held the throttle cable bracket on worked well. Just to the right in the picture above

Once removed, slide it over the two studs which stick out of the manifold, and then twist it 180 degrees. I managed to get to the IACV plug alot easier at this stage, and then remove the two hoses that go into the bottem. A teeny bit of colent comes out, so cable tie them out the way.

You can loop the coolant pipes as you will see they are pretty pointless when you remove the Throttle Body. Saves work aswell for the next time I take it off to clean too.

Then let the clean commense.... Mine was pretty manky as you can see,

Good clean with cotten buds, WD40, and paper towles later.....

Used a stanly blade to remove the old paper gasket. (mind fingers)

Then took off the IACV underneath.

Not too dirty, but the spindle was pretty sticky so im glad I got this far and it actually needed doing. haha

                        New gasket to go on.....

And then put it back together and enjoy better thottle response, no hunting when dipping the clutch in traffic, and smoother at everything the revs do basically, hard to describe, but it did make a difference to mine, and I thought I had no problems in the first place.

                        Thanks,
                        James

Looks good mate, yours seem dirtier than mine but I was experiencing issues, (rev hunting), lag etc..
Car feels amazing now, very noticeable difference +1 for all dc5r owners
