    **Dnapol’s EP3R Build: Revenge Of The Fallen… DC5**

    Hey guys,

Well, what a turn of events that took place in the second half of 2012! My DC5R build was peaking, cracking PBs and making me the happiest year 12 student alive until … I was hit and it was written off Full details of the car and accident can be found on my DC5R Build thread.

So what next? Another DC5? Maybe S2K time? A Nissan?
NO.. I was on the hunt for a new car that would make me just as happy as the DC5 and also not lose money on all my parts, verdict? EP3R!!!

I managed to hunt down an EP3R that was freshly imported with 70,000km on the clock just after my accident. The car also had a few Mugen goodies on it that made it that “perfect find” I wanted.

The aim of this EP3R? To push the barriers set by my DC5, to get ever closer to that immortal time at Winton set by Tom (ChargeR) and most importantly, to avenge the death of my precious, loving and beautiful Debra The Integra.

The car came from Japan with:
    - Mugen Vented Bonnet
    - Mugen Air Filter
    - Mugen Brake Pads
    - Mugen Twinloop Exhaust

I left the car bone stock in my garage until I finished my year 12 exams and then decided, time to go all out! I’ve installed a small handful of parts from the DC5R but majority are still sitting in my garage ready to go in (updates in the near future).

It's seibon, mugen doesn't have carbon centre blade. The idea was to replicate my dc5 :P fitment requires a little work though

                      Okay guys,
Time for update #1 of 2 for this month,

Once year 12 was over I began modding the EP3 ready for it's first track day (16th of December). At this point it only had I/H/E as the major mods. Also, I ran my CR Kai's which were running on about 10% tread RE001 and RE050 and somehow managed to pull a 1:45.5 PB in my DC5. With stock suspension on the EP3 and very very worn tires my first session gave me a 1:49.5 (already beating my DC5's PB for first time at track)...

So I decided to up my pressures a little to 35 all round and that's where I found a slight gain in traction mid corner. Because the trackday was half short/half long track I only had one other session to pull a better PB in the EP3, the sun came out and an almost perfect session was had, new PB for EP3 was acquired of 1:47.5

From here I switched cars with my dad (2011' WRX) and got to experience Winton with some boost, WOW! Forced induction in the near future? HAHA

Anyways, whilst on the short track I found the I could push the EP3 even more and if it had stayed the long track I feel I could have matched my DC5's PB. On stock suspension and crappy tyres I was very happy with the car as a package (probably prefer it over the DC5 at the moment) and am looking forward to the track days coming up in the next few weeks. Big mods happening as we speak so watch this space

Thanks for your support too! Much love CLUBITR

Here's a quick snap of me hunting down my dad at the track (his PB was a 1:50.1)

It was a wet session and I didn't beat dads PB so could have been anything but I prefer the FWD for Winton, didn't like 4wd. Plus, dad insisted traction control remain ON. No fun hahaha

                              Update
I decided with the upcoming trackday that I should finally get around to my suspension side of the build. The BC BR coilovers I ran in my DC5 were to be fitted to the EP3 however I had to run the DC5 tie rods ends (easily acquired from the wreck) and shave down the rear mounting eyelet on rear coils. The coils were fairly easy to install (it's a Honda after-all) and all I needed from there was an alignment. Of course, I took the car down to Centreline Suspension in Thomastown (I recommend to you all) and they took care of my alignment and some other parts. I had a pair of Todd's modified tie rods that were destined for my DC5 but never got installed so I had them installed into the EP3 and was able to achieve -3 degrees of camber on the front with just camber top and the toe correction in the new tie rods. On the rears I am running -2.5 degrees and zero toe all round.

I'll most likely need to run a little more camber soon to fit my TE37SLs and switch my 235/40/17 on the 9" to a 215/45/17. Big things ahead, hoping I can smash my PB at the Winton Trackday monday as for the first time ever, I'm running a decently treaded set of track tyres. Fingers crossed...

                              Trackdays coming up are:
                              Winton - 28th Jan
Phillip Island - 9/10th of Feb

Anybody who's at the track days feel free to come up and say hey, might even be able to enjoy yourself a passenger session
Thanks guys (sorry that there's no photos with this update, next time!)

                              Peace
