Exhaust Gaskets Replaced by 999 Automotive @ 139300 km

Just got the exhaust gaskets replaced today because they were badly split and leaking heaps, apparently this was caused from dodgy installation (what I was told by friends it should have been fitted flush). You can still see the remaining residue of exhaust fumes on the flange.

OEM Honda Air Clean Filter (Cabin Filter) Installed @ 140350 km

So today I went down to Southside Honda Spare Parts to get myself new cabin filters for the DC5R. Got there and asked for the cabin filters. Guy said : Did you know that the DC5's did not come standard with cabin filters, it was an accessory. Thats something I didn't know and thought the previous owner/s threw out the old ones and didn't bother to replace it. In the US, all DC5's come standard with filters from what I saw on the US forums. Anyways, I bought it at a shocking $54.45 (to be precise) which was expensive but where else could I buy it locally.

Anyways, below is a quick guide to show you where and how to install/replace cabin filters

So for starters, the cabin filter trays are located right behind the glove box.

You then want to remove everything from the glove box since you need to push out the stoppers and get access behind the glove box.

Where my finger is pointing is where the stoppers are, you want to push them out and do the same for the other side.

Where my finger is located again is where the trays are located.

What you want to do is lift up the tab where my finger is and pull off the cover to access the trays.

You will end up seeing the trays like that, you want to pull the trays out. One of them pulls straight out and the other needs to slide to the right and then pull out.

Now you will get trays that look like this.

Now what needs to be done is that the triangle block that is there needs to be cut out. You can use any ordinary kitchen knife but I used a Stanley knife since I had one.

Both trays should look like this after you're done.

So now to insert the filters, you need to insert them accordingly to the air flow arrows shown on both tray and filter.

Now here is a smart thing to do. I went down to Super Cheap Auto and bought a few air fresheners, I bought the normal tree ones. You choose whatever scent you want and then place it below the filter like shown. You don't need to sticky tape or anything at least it is being held in between the tray and the filter as it wont go anywhere.

In goes the trays back in.

        Pop the lid back on.

        Put the clips back on.

And store everything back into your glove box and volla.

So there you have it! Enjoy fresh filtered air with the air freshener scent. To make sure that you want to keep the scent, I think it is good to change them every season as what has been advised on the US forums. But I'll probably end up changing them every 2 months

oh bonkerss must of missed it! Cheers

edit, although filtering the air would it also reduce how much air is pumped out, as in the air filter would also act as a restriction ?

It does restrict a bit of the air flow but it's something that you wouldn't bother about. In the end, you wont get dust into your car. When I took the trays out, they were filthy dirty and the same inside the box. I ended up getting damp paper towels to get rid of most of it.
