I disagree about the comments referring to older/heavier/stronger. It has been proven time and time again that older cars are nowhere near as safe as new ones. Check out the 5th gear Megane VW Volvo video on YouTube.

I agree tho... if you got the coin to properly look after and insure a Type R, get that.
